2.5 mg is the difference in strength, not really much difference, and you can certainly get both strengths in each the syrup and the pill take one and a half pills to get 7.5mg and take two thirds the amount of the syrup to get 5mg

I can answer this question, but I don't understand it. It seems like you just answered it yourself.
This may help, the 7.5 mg syrup is 7.5 mg/500 mg per 15ml (3 teaspoonfuls) That means there is 7.5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg of acetaminophen (tylenol) in 15 ml of liquid. There are different strenghts of the tablets. There is a 7.5 mg/5 mg which means there is 7.5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg acetaminophen, and there is a 5 mg/500 mg tablet, 5 mg of hydrocodone and 500 mg acetaminophen.

Go with the syrup; it is stronger & as a liquid, it is absorbed by the body quicker.
