Just a recap. I was typing at my computer and my wrist just started to hurt. I have been doing a lot of typing the past few weeks as I am writing an hour long movie to film. (just for fun). So anyways, at first I just shook it off. But that was on either suday or monday.

Sypmtoms at first
Pain when i bent my hand forward
the indent below the outerside of my thumb hurt when you pushed on it.

Sypmtoms now(4 days later)
Pain when i bend my hand forward
the indent below the outerside of my thumb hurt when you pushed on it.
The indented spot is swollen
when looking at the back of your hand, the base of the fatty part of my thumb is a swollen
if you go down from between you thumb and pointer finger, the beggining of the main bone after the wrist hurts when i touch it.

What could possibly be wrong? I know i should go to the doctor but every time i go for anything all they say is to ice it and not use it 3 weeks. well i dance and i need my hand. what could be wrong? help.

I thought to myself, this is it, i'm done. Went to the doctor (actually urgent care) and he called it pleurisy. I have never heard of it. I must of pulled a muscle doing something. Well after getting home I did remember I started a new position at work. One of my duties is lifting a trash can full of newspapers. I have another go with me due to it being heavy and all.

I've been visiting the chiropractor 1-2 times a week just to keep my neck and back pain in check. I also like to work out including running, ab exercises, etc. I was planning on going to the gym before my adjustment and then just thought it might be better to do it the other way around because I know that the muscles in your neck have to heal after an adjustment. So- would it be better to work out after my neck's been adjusted? Thanks for the knowledgable answers.

About a month and a half ago, I came down hard on my left foot during a game of basketball. I felt a pop, and fell to my knees. A few minutes later, the pain subsided and I continued to play.

My foot has hurt terribly since then, though I am becoming accustom to the pain. It certain positions, or with my work loafers on, it is excruciating. I've tried ice, elevation, and compression, all of which only bring temporary relief. I've even stayed away from any physical activity for two weeks now.

I know that sprains can take a long time to heal, but it seemed like such a minor thing at the time. My friend received a H.A.S. from basketball and was good to two month later.

I hate to admit it but my ears aren't cleaned all the time, ok most of time. I was complaining to my mom that my ear was clogged and she assumed it was sinuses so I assumed, ok that makes sense. So I cleaned my ear and it didn't help, and after I used warm water and a syringe. That didn't help either. I cleaned it again the next day with the syringe and then again. After that my ear was fine. Then, August 14, 2007 I woke up and my ear was throbbing. Everything else was fine on my body EXCEPT my ears. It got worse and my mom said that maybe I hit my eardrum when I used the syringe. I did stick it in too deep but I argued with her that if I busted my eardrum I wouldn've been able to hear at all. I can actually hear better than I did before and I took allergy medicine as soon as my mom said sinuses and I took Tyenol too! Today, it hurts too chew food, swallow and it hurts to talk, spit up mucus making that "cuuu!" sound too. I don't know what it is and my ear hurts. Any help?

Last night around 11:00pm, My arm started to get this weird feeling in like it was numb and tingley. I kinda felt like i was getting my blood pressure taken and all the blood was rushing to my arm and hand. I put the heating pad on it and it was okay for awhile but now that feeling has come back. I told my mom and she said I probaly strained it from the heavy lifting I did for her yesterday.
But I don't know can anyone help me, Im not sure that its strained but could anyone tell me some other problems could be?

My 67 year old mum felt/heard a crack in her right thigh yesterday and fell to the ground. She was taken to A&E, and a fractured thigh bone was confirmed. Yesterday evening, she was put in traction and they are hoping to perform surgery today.

My questions are these.

1. Although I appreciate her age and the likelihood of osteoporosis, is it normal for such a large bone to literally snap without any prior trauma?

2. What is the recovery prognosis for such a condition? She is already arthritic in her knees, spine, hips etc, and following an illness earlier this year, currently weighs about 15 stone.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A South African man shot three weeks ago was told to "walk the pain off" and is still trying to persuade hospitals to remove the bullet lodged in his side, a newspaper said Thursday.

Three Johannesburg hospitals refused to remove the bullet for security guard Phillip Mashiane, 38, who was shot during a burglary at the property of South Africa's ambassador to the United Nations, the Star newspaper said.

The bullet passed through his elbow and entered his body just above the hip, missed his vital organs and stopped beneath the skin on the opposite side of his body, the Star said.

Mashiane told the paper he was turned away by one private hospital because he could not afford the bills while a public hospital took X-rays and kept him in for observation before patching him up and sending him home with painkillers.
When he returned a doctor told him to "walk the pain off."

Doctors at a third hospital said it could not remove the bullet because Mashiane had started treatment elsewhere.

"I want my life back. I need to work and all I ask is for them to help me," Mashiane told The Star.

South Africa is battling some of the highest rates of violent crime in the world, and its underfunded public hospitals struggle to treat all those who need healthcare.

So yeah, I had tennis elbow (never played tennis in my life, funnily enough) it was from hyper extending + carrying extremely heavy objects in an extremely stupid way...

Anyway I pretty much ignored it, got on with life...Now (a week later) my forearm is extremely HOTand SWOLLEN (mainly the large muscle between elbow & wrist) and keeps going 'dead' (wrist too) and looks a little bruised (not external bruising from any kind of trauma) on inside forearm....

Not going back to physio! (just recovered from knee surgery) so looking for some advice or just hearing from anyone who has had anything similar. Thanks

Four days ago I smashed my finger in my car door. I was leaning against my car to move out of the way of a passing car (with my hand on the front driverside door), my body shut the back door with my middle finger sticking out so that the hinge side of the door shut on it. It immediately pushed it out. And.. it was quite painful.
So far I've tried to continue to ice it, and take pain relievers. Today there has been no pain, but I can still feel the pressure.
At first it was a very light blue at the bottom of the nail, with a dark blue spot in the middle. As the days went by, the dark blue spot grew and is now just at the top of the nail and past it.. The rest of the nail is a bluish grey color. My mother says it will be fine, but my father says I should see a doctor.

A child pulled on my earring and my hole was enlarged - so I've not worn earrings since because they are lopsided. Can I have my ear repierced and how long should I wait before having it done so that earrings do not just slide down the larger hole?

I was doing wallflips and when i went for one last one I got a lil too far out on a jump and when i flipped i hit the ground and landed on my buttox and rolled back and when I stood up, I got a surge of pain from what seemed to be my tailbone. the pain has gone down alot but it still have pain when I either try to stand up, sit down, or bend over, pretty much whenever i move my back to do omething but not all the time and now I am getting tired of feeling pain. Should I see a doctor or can i just let it heal on its own? If I can avoid a doctor visit, hw long will it take to heal?

Well, starters im now 17 and a couple years ago I had fallen off of a chair and I attempted to redeem the chair from falling so i tilted it the opposite way it was falling (i was standing on the chair) well the chair than flipped over my head and I had put my arm out and bounced back off my arm and hit my spine and neck off a desk that was sitting behind me. i had gone to the hospital to get checked out and they said I shouldnt be alive because of how I landed but yet they never did any tests so i figured I'd be ok but now from time to time I get really bad pains in my back and I feel like im going to collapse as well I get where my heart races and starts to hurt do you think there is some kind of connection and what could be wrong with both my back and heart??

I know with an injury like this you're supposed to rest it but i can't rest TOO much because i still have to run to get in shape for fall sports.

I can't really ice it because when it hurts, it hurts in at least 3 different spots from my hip to my knee at the same time.

My dad (who was a sports medicine doctor, now radiologist) gave me some stretches but none of them get the spot where it actually hurts.

What else can i do?

A couple months ago, early this year, I was rough housing with my dogs and stood on my couch. I got unbalanced and smacked my *** into the beam behind the cushions, I had taken them off. It wasn't like the beam had much to go through, my butt is unrealistically tiny. All of my underwear are too baggy, but, that's besides my point.

After it, my butt hurt, of course, but I also felt slightly nauseous. There was a bump, but no bruise and it hurt very badly.

The bump is gone and it doesn't hurt as much as it used to, but I can't sit on it for very long without it hurting. Which means, I ALWAYS have to sit on my side.

I never went to get it looked at. Don't have any health insurance and can't afford the check-up, so my *** just hurts every time I sit since then. But, it's okay, I can use that as my excuse not to sit long. :P

Any ideas?

Oh, and please, feel free to laugh. It is kind of funny. :)

I'm enrolled in a massage therapy course and I received a massage from another student on my foot. She had missed the previous class and made the mistake of massaging away from the heart on the top of the foot. Now my some of the veins on the top of my foot pop up when I'm standing and my foot keeps falling asleep - so she definitely blew out some of the valves.

My question: Is there any chance of this healing itself?

I spoke with the doctor who runs the school and he said that when possible to keep it elevated and that it should heal within a month or so. Can anyone confirm this?

If so, how long does it take to heal? Yesterday, I was trying to get water out of my ear and I think I pulled a muscle in my neck! It hurts so bad to move it to the right side and feels like burning sometimes... Owww....
