Just a recap. I was typing at my computer and my wrist just started to hurt. I have been doing a lot of typing the past few weeks as I am writing an hour long movie to film. (just for fun). So anyways, at first I just shook it off. But that was on either suday or monday.

Sypmtoms at first
Pain when i bent my hand forward
the indent below the outerside of my thumb hurt when you pushed on it.

Sypmtoms now(4 days later)
Pain when i bend my hand forward
the indent below the outerside of my thumb hurt when you pushed on it.
The indented spot is swollen
when looking at the back of your hand, the base of the fatty part of my thumb is a swollen
if you go down from between you thumb and pointer finger, the beggining of the main bone after the wrist hurts when i touch it.

What could possibly be wrong? I know i should go to the doctor but every time i go for anything all they say is to ice it and not use it 3 weeks. well i dance and i need my hand. what could be wrong? help.

You may have a repetitive injury like deQuervain's syndrome. It's extremely painful. I've had it and had to have surgery to correct it after suffering for about 4 years. If you immobilize the thumb for 2 weeks it should help. When the condition flairs up immobilize it for a couple weeks. Get a splint that keeps you from moving your thumb, not one that immobilizes the wrist. Although the pain may be in your wrist it's actually the thumb that's causing the problem. Maybe get some physical therapy and that make it feel better too. Good luck. 2D

You need to see a physiotherapist. They should assess it properly, better than some doctors.

Looking up the net is helpful only if you understand what you are looking for. The symptom you describe can mean a number of things, so you need it assessed properly.

It doesn't matter if you know how to type properly, you may have done too much. Even professional runners have foot and leg injuries.

you should stop typing so much it can get bad and also you need to learn how to type the right way. I know that secretarys have to learn a way no one knows about so they don't get carpal tunnel. look it up
