Bell's Palsy. It is a temporary palsy often caused by injuries to the faces, even from some bug bites. Temporary would be good! That is an option. Good luck at the doctor!

There are two things that I can think of:

1. A possible stroke (TIA which is a transient ischemic attack or "mini stroke").

2. Bell's Palsy (inflammation of the facial nerve which can cause temporary facial paralysis).

Regardless of which one it is (or might be), I urge you not to wait until tomorrow. On the chance that it is a TIA, you need immediate medical care and should go to an ER right away.

A TIA is a warning sign of impending major stroke. I will also add that you could be the healthiest person in the world and still be at risk. Please don't wait...go NOW. It's better to be safe than sorry.

EMT

One other point...for a stroke to be treated effectively, the "clot busting" drugs can only be given within a 3 hour window from the ONSET OF SYMPTOMS. That is a very narrow window.

Sounds like Bells Palsy. If so, (and only your doctor can make the diagnosis) the good news is that it is a temporary condition that you will almost surely make a complete recovery from. The bad news is that it may take 6 months to run its course. In the meantime, its all very inconvenient because you look funny and its difficult to drink water etc. Its more common than you might imagine.

Other less likely but serious conditions would include stroke, but I'll bet your doctor excludes this pretty quickly. Check out the attached link for lots of information on the subject.

classic Bell's palsy. Worst of symptoms peak in 2-3 days duration. 1 of every 5000 people will experience this.
About 50% of those who get this condition will have a full recovery. Another 35% will have good recovery in under one year.
A TIA ("mini-stroke") and CVA(major stroke) would usually effect more than just the face (speech, extremity issues, etc)
Your doctor will likely prescribe an anti-viral medication.
Scary stuff to have this happen but usually no complications. Tape the left eye shut if you are unable to blink in the meanwhile.

It can be a STROKE or PALSY. Bell's PALSY is a possibility since you mentioned the one side of the face being affected. Don't worry too much - you already made a good step in resolving to go to a doctor.

That is a sign of "Bells Pausy" (not sure about spelling). It could happen from taking a hit to the head, having a stroke, or from Lyme's Disease. There are probably other causes as well. Go to the doctor soon and get it checked out... That's my advice... I hope this helped.

It might be a sign of Bells Palsy. It is characterised by facial drooping on the affected half, due to malfunction of the facial nerve (VII cranial nerve), which controls the muscles of the face.

From Wikipedia.

If it is not treated you might suffer an infection.
Go see a doctor immediately, before it gets worse. Bells Palsy is (most of the time) temporary and once you get antibiotics your face will gain its original shape and you will be able to move your muscles again.

It sounds like belles palsy it come from having an infection and not getting it treated. It will most likely clear up with a strong antibiotic. It may take a few weeks to recover.
