I know with an injury like this you're supposed to rest it but i can't rest TOO much because i still have to run to get in shape for fall sports.

I can't really ice it because when it hurts, it hurts in at least 3 different spots from my hip to my knee at the same time.

My dad (who was a sports medicine doctor, now radiologist) gave me some stretches but none of them get the spot where it actually hurts.

What else can i do?

Swimming! Swimming can do wonders! It's a great source of exercise. It may help loosen any tightening in the muscles. Just a suggestion. Feel better, respectfully, Laura.

you have NO choice but to rest it especially if the stretches aren't helping. taking 4-5 days off from your normal activity is NOT going to hinder your progress for fall sports. if anything you should be WANTING to take the time to heal this properly so it doesn't keep you on the bench come game time.

FYI, INJURIES OF THIS SORT TAKE AWHILE TO HEAL. YOUR DAD IS CORRECT. HE ISN'T GOING TO GIVE YOU EXERCISES TO STRETCH THE INJURED PART AND MAKE IT WORSE.LISTEN TO HIM.
