ie; running under cold water for 15 mins , keeping a cold pad on , etc. It has left quite a nasty scar, it has also blistered, these burst whilst she slept last night. What is the best way to treat this now, Just keep it dry and cover with antiseptic pads. Any tips?I dont think its a medical visit as such, but it was painful, as even the slightest burns are, god love her.I wanted to take it and have it myself

"here is a very simple way to cause a fever. Take a penny and dip it on peroxide twice then put it under your tounge. After a couple of minutes put the thermometer in your mouth and there you go!"

Would peroxide make me sick? Does that accualy give me a fever? Thanks! Would the fever go away?

I'm looking to join a First Aid Team on my campus and the application says "individuals must be certified in Standard First Aid and CPR C". I have a card by the American Heart Association that says "This card certifies that the above individual has successfully comopleted the national cognitive & skilss evaluations in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA for the BLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program."
Am I fulfilling the requirement? If not, what exactly does "Standard First Aid and CPR C" entail?

I was reaching into my pocket and had a bic mechanical pencil in there. there point went under my fingernail, broke off, and was stuck under there. I used a tweaserm (sp?) to pull it out. There is a cut there now. What should i do so that this does not get infected?

It woke me up out of a dead sleep in the middle of the night, it was on the side of my kneecap and the pain was excruciating. I got up in the dark and brushed off something, went to the bathroom, looked at the wound and a squished black thing was stuck to it. Wasnt a wasp or hornet, but something else with a hard center, like a tick I thought. In retrospect it could have been a spider. Next morning the pain was still there and a small circular redness was around the bite. I went to the DR and was told if the redness spreads come back, if not it wasn't a tick and the pain was most likely that it bit on a nerve bundle. Well here I am 6 months later, the redness went away within 24 hours but the itch is incredible. There is now a small hard itchy bump there, like a crusty mosquito bite and it wont go away. Should I worry about this because the crusty bump is getting really firm and slightly larger. And the itch comes and goes with ferocity. Thanks for your thoughts.

One day I woke up with what looked like a paper cut on the left side of my knuckle. I examined it and it isn't cut open. I thought it was a burn, but I don't remember burning my finger, and it's in a line, not a round shape. On one end there is a little brown spot that looks like a scab, but it's very small. The surrounding area is very sore and red. It got slightlty bigger overnight. Does anyone have any idea what it is or if it's a blister?

What's the best way to get it off? I've tried greasing my finger with olive oil, window cleaner (but not Windex). Should I take a diuretic? How does the string method work? Please help!

When I was a kid they would last for days - now I'm lucky to have one stay on for half an hour. Are they making them cheap and nasty now? I'm cranky!

Yesterday I had a really terrible itch on my knee (no idea why) and during the night I kept scratching it (in my sleep) and tore most of the skin off of it. I know this sounds stupid. My knee looks like a kid that fell off their bike! What can I put on it to heal quickly. It hurts to walk. Thank you.

Call it the most off the wall concept, but it actually works (not one of those drunk hiccups though) I use a tech. called the "Old little pinky in the ear" trick. Now it does sound like the most off the wall concept and many people might say, "Im not going to stick my little finger in my ear", but it really does work. Next time you get those hiccups and it is just driving you crazy, try sticking your little finger in your ear and see if they stop. I was told this when I was about 13 yrs old and I thought too it was off the wall, but to this day I swear by it.
