ie; running under cold water for 15 mins , keeping a cold pad on , etc. It has left quite a nasty scar, it has also blistered, these burst whilst she slept last night. What is the best way to treat this now, Just keep it dry and cover with antiseptic pads. Any tips?I dont think its a medical visit as such, but it was painful, as even the slightest burns are, god love her.I wanted to take it and have it myself

Burns there are five levels of degrees of burns

first degree burns are red and no blister

second degree burns have a blister

our skin protects us from infection and when there is a break in it infection can set in. More so with burns.

Things you will want to consider is how big the burn is. And her age. If it is Sm and she is over three you can care for it at home.
If she is younger or it is bigger she has to go to the Dr's

But do not use antiseptic pads when they complain that they sting
The sting is cells dieing.

For burns the best thing to use is either polysporin or an anti-biotic cream one of the over the counter ones.

If it becomes swollen or if the redness starts to go past the burn more than a Sm ring (for some burns there will be a thin pink ring around the burn) Or she has a fever. Or the area around the burn begins to get painful. Or she becomes lethargic go to the emergency room at once

Once the skin is intact again you can start to use a scar cream. They have some good ones on the market and again they are over the counter. And use for quite awhile even after it is completely healed. And it will slowly go away.

You are supposed to put burns straight under cold water! The tap shouldn't be powerful as on a bad burn this can take the skin off. Without cold water, the red hot tissue in your hand will stay hpt and carry on burning, getting deeper and is more likely to leave scar tissue. You shouldn't apply anything to a burn except cold water and if it is very bad, cling film to protect the skin and keep germs out. You should DEFINATELY see a doctor, if it is that bad, you should be paying a visit to the walk in centre of A & E's minor burns or injury department.

I had a 3 degree burn on the top of my foot from spilling boiling water on it. I took a leaf from my aloe plant and gently taped it to the wound. Make sure yo cut the leaf open so the juice gets on the wound. It will take the sting away fairly soon and if you keep aloe juce on it, it will heal very nicely.

You can also apply honey. It has to be the natural variety, not the stuff from the grocery stores.

Poor baby!

Yes, keep the area coverred with neosporin or aloe, and protected with sterile pads. Make sure to keep a sharp eye on the area so infection doesn't set in.

Good luck!

You are doing what you should, keep dry, keep covered and depending on her age, give her children's aspirin for any pain.If it has blistered,it has not left a scar yet. When it scabs over,if she picks at it,then it will leave a scar.A quick trip to your doctor for mild antibiotics is advisable.

no matter how bad you think a burn is...you really need to take her to a doctor. blisters form from severe 2nd to 3rd degree burns and can lead to infection
