Help! Does anybody know how to reduce the redness and swelling? I am getting my engangement photos on Saturday! Also, how do I prevent it from scarring?

Oh dear! You ran into the very reason I don't use such creams!

Try soothing baths with oatmeal and aloe. It probably won't scar- but it will be uncomfortable. You should be back to normal by Saturday.

Good luck, and congratulations on the engagement!

I got a chemical burn once from a salon dying my hair, and the girl left it on to long. The best thing is to use Neosporin. It will reduce the swelling and take the redness away.

Get some over the counter cortisone cream and take some Motrin as they both will help with the inflammation. The same thing happened to a friend of mine and this worked like a charm.

I know you probably don't have one. but go to the store and buy a big aloe vera plant and chop off a few of the limbs and put in your blender and blend it till it is all juice. pour it into a bowl and take a cotton ball and put it on your burn. it will heal your chemical burn faster than any medication you can buy and probably cheaper.and your plant will keep growing for the next time that you need it.
hope this works for you
I use it all the time.

You should get in to see a dermatologist as soon as possible. When dealing with a chemical burn you want to be careful not to apply anything that can cause infection.

The first rule when using a cream hair remover is never rub the area, and NEVER NEVER use soap after. Just bathe it alot with cold water. Pat dry. Keep rincing with cold water. I would use Penaten, or something like a baby diaper rash ointment. I have had this happen to me, but if you follow these rules, it won't happen again.
