I was diagnosed with Bronchitis after being sick for about 10 days. The old doctor kept saying that I did not have a bacterial infection so it was just a viral thing that had been going around. Well, new doctor says bronchitis since I have the horrible retched cough, fever, chills ect. He gave me a Zpak and cough syrup with codeine. It seems a little better today but I have coughed up so much phlem! Now I have the chocking feeling in my chest and it feels tight. Is that just a part of this? Help! How long will this last? I have coughed for 4 days straight now and it is hard to get any sleep. Thanks

I have a 6 month old baby who is dealing with congestion. he's had RSV diagnosis and has been on a nebulizer to help with breathing before that diagnosis. He's still coughing and he still has congestion.... Has anyone ever used Vick's Babyrub to help soothe their baby? I do use a Vick's humidifier whenever he's home but I am curious about vick's Babyrub.

My dad has been coughing very much lately. I can hear him coughing now. He has asthma and smokes. He has given up and smoked again and given up for a few years now. He has quit smoking for a month now due to his coughing. He seems to be lacking the motivation to actually quit it for the long run. My dad is 60+. It hurts me to see how he harms is body everyday.
However, some immediate advice needed. What do you suggest for coughing? When he coughs, he does have mucus. Therefore, It is not dry. What are some drinks you suggest for coughin? Like tea or something? Any home-care? He has been drinking many types of coughing syrups, but all seem helpless. What can a daughter do for his dad?

PS. Great, my dad is angry at me, cos i worked late these days. If anything could go any worse. My mother is not around now; she be back next week. Please pray for me and my family.

My 13 month old just had bronchitis like 3 weeks ago and I just went in two days ago for an eye infection, anyway I had his doctor check his lungs to be sure it was gone. He is getting molars so he has had a runny nose and drainage down his throat and I think he is starting to sound like bronchitis again, since they listened to his lungs. His cough had been loose yesterday but today it sounds harsh and hacking, really dry barking noise. Im so sick of him being sick. Is it possible for him to get again so soon?

I have been having sudden and sharp pain in my lower left chest area for about a week or so. It isn't constantly hurting. Once or twice a day I feel a sudden stabbing pain with every breath for a few moments, and then it goes away. But it doesn't hurt with every breath. Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be?

I was sick last week with a fever, congestion, coughing, and sneezing. I stayed away from swim team practice all last week, and I just returned yesterday. However, I got a severe pain in my chest when I inhaled and it continued to worsen that evening. It was very painful, and I don't have asthma or any other condition that I'm aware of. Also, I used to get severe pains in what I guess would be my heart when I inhaled at certain times. These spells usually lasted 4-5 breaths. Very occansionally, I used to have some trouble catching my breath when I was younger. Does it sound like I have asthma, something else, or that my lungs were just weakened from the sickness and couldn't take that much exercise?

For the past 3 weeks, I've had a cough off and on. I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and she said that no wheezing present and that that eliminated the possibility of bronchitis. However, now, still no wheezing, but I have a fever (controllable by Acetaminophen) as well as deep and very, very painful dry coughs. A few days ago, I coughed up green thick liquid (very sick, I know). My throat is killing me, and no medicine or cough drops help. Coughing has gotten so bad that I'll wake myself 15+ times a night, and it leaves my back aching for hours.

I do not smoke (I'm only 14), however others do smoke around me occasionally. Is this a sign of bronchitis or something more/less serious? Do you have any at-home remedies that can soothe my throat and/or help me not cough as much?

All help is appreciated so very much as long as it doesn't kill me ;) Prompt answers with working remedies helping my throat (as it hurts to even swallow saliva) would be even more appreciated.
