A normal value is 11.5g/100ml to 15.5g/100ml. Anything less than this would be anaemic. If iron deficiency anaemia you also measure blood ferritin levels.

Anemia in females is said to be present if Hb is <11g/dL in young or <12g/dL in post menopausal.

This holds true irrespective of the etiology of Anemia.
