We were just given a wonderful mare - she does have heaves. She came with antihistamine medication and from what I have read and seen with with her so far, this may be senseless. Due to heavy work schedules, we are weekend warriors as I say, this mare will not be overused or abused, trail ridden primarily. My husband will rely on her for a walk; he is approx 225 lbs. I am wondering if I need different meds, wetting of hay or any other remedy. I don't want to cause her any respiratory discomfort....are there effective meds or limits that I need to be aware of? All responses will be appreciated!

I've been having some chest pains for the past few weeks, mainly when I rest - left side of my chest. I don't smoke or drink & I was just wondering what this might be.

They put me on machines and took X-Rays at the doctors and in the E.R.

And they both said I am fine

Could this be a serious problem???

Does it or doesn't it hurt? A lot of responses here on Yahoo Answers involve it being painful.

However, I also have read that it is just beneath the skin. Since it is like that, wouldn't the pain be nonexistent, as if it were a mosquito bite?

I had pneumonia twice in my life. I had a severe case at 8 years old that debilitated me 100% for well over a month (couldn't even play video games). I couldn't exercise properly for nearly a year afterwards without hacking something up or wheezing. I had another instance at age 16 that was much less intense. I just turned 29, and I'm going to be spending a lot of time outdoors this winter walking to work. I'm concerned that I could be vulnerable to getting it again, but I don't know much about the illness, other than the 2 times I got it I was out in the snow a lot.

I see that they have pneumonia vaccine out there but they only reccommend it to people over 65 years old and once in their life.

Does anybody have any knowledge of how many times the average person can get pneumonia? I thought after I got it once I would be covered for life.

I say no, my husband says yes. I thought a cold or flu or pneumonia came from bacterial or viral infections, and germs in general. He says breathing the cold or wet air can cause a baby to develop bronchial problems and pneumonia. I say bundle the baby up and take him out. He says keep him in the house when the weather is bad. Help me settle this dispute...

does anyone know a good cure?

Alright guys. So here's the deal. I started smoking for around a month now. I'm also a vocalist. I limit myself to 2 sticks a day.

So recently, when I did some research on how smoking affects the voice. I found out that the body produces more phlegm than usual when you smoke. I figured that the phlegm has been preventing me from holding my high notes. I can still hit them, but I can't keep them strong because the phlegm chokes up my throat.

So heres my question: How can I maintain my voice at it's standard like before I started? Or is quitting the only way?

PS: I don't need any advice about quitting or crap. I already know it's harmful.

also, please don't tell me that QUITTING IS THE ONLY WAY just cause you want me to quit. I appreciate the thought. but really. No thanks.

We took him for xrays and his doctor noticed a shaded area near the lungs that she said is probably his thymus gland, but it wasn't where it normally is. Now she has sent us to get ct scans. What might be wrong with him if it isn't asthma?

Unsure as of yet how to punish him. I've read other responses to the same situation on here and found the age old concept of making him smoke a whole pack. Couldn't that be dangerous and cause nicotine poisoning? Any suggestions besides poisoning my son?

I've been sick the past month with strep throat then sinus infection, and now I have a bad cough and finding it hard to breathe, my chest feels heavy, and coughing up yellowish mucus, but it is hard to cough it up. Falling asleep is very hard because when I lay down it's really hard to breathe. My nose is running constantly as well, but this is more than just a cold. Any ideas?

and I can't find one single question regarding the disease. I have asked questions also and have not received many answers.
COPD is now the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. & I am beginning to think I am suffering alone.
The only ones on Answers pertain to people who have already passed on......Oh, woe is me.....Now, I am not talking asthma here, just emphysema patients.

im 28 weeks pregnant and i just had an ultrasound yesterday, my doctor told me that I had to have a sono from a perintologist because the fetal urine tract measures 5mm on the right and 4 mm on the left. he said the cut-off is 4 mm but since im slightly over i need to get checked. im scheduled to see a perintologist next week for a sono on the fetus' kidneys. im not sure whats going on really, but i am extremely worried that it might be something serious. he said it wasnt, but he had a worried look on his face. does anyone know anything about this or has had an experience?...plz help. sorry if nothing makes sense. im kinda lost myself.

I have a dry cough that makes me short of breath. I don't have a fever though. Its started with a runny nose, headaches and sneezing but is mainly coughing now. I have asthma so I get asthmatic bronchitis every once in awhile... usually once every other year. Also there have been two times I have been diagnosed with early pneumonia. I don't really feel that bad but should I got to the doctor or just wait... my reservation is I don't have any other symptoms other than coughing with shortness of breath. I used my asthma inhaler but it doesn't seem to be helping. I am not like gasping or anything like if I would have an asthma attack.
