I've been sick the past month with strep throat then sinus infection, and now I have a bad cough and finding it hard to breathe, my chest feels heavy, and coughing up yellowish mucus, but it is hard to cough it up. Falling asleep is very hard because when I lay down it's really hard to breathe. My nose is running constantly as well, but this is more than just a cold. Any ideas?

Sounds like a infection or possibly the flu.
Maybe bronchitis as well.
See a doctor asap, the drugs now days work wonders.

Also, run a humidifier at night and elevate your head.

In addition to what Susan recommended, humidify the air with a vaporizer. This will help mobilize the mucus. A cough syrup WITH an expectorant will help.

Take lots of Vitamin C throughout the day (if you get diarrhea, back off a little...that's your body's way of telling you that you are taking too much), echinacea, and zinc to strengthen your immune system.

Sounds like you have secondary bacterial infection in your chest. Go to the Dr's and get some antibiotics. Drink lots of fluid to loosen the mucus. Try to sleep propped up on some pillows, this last will help your breathing.
