Unsure as of yet how to punish him. I've read other responses to the same situation on here and found the age old concept of making him smoke a whole pack. Couldn't that be dangerous and cause nicotine poisoning? Any suggestions besides poisoning my son?

mild nicotine poisoning is the point, he'll get dizzy, and puke his brains out. He'll associate smoking with that feeling and he'll likely not want to do it again. He'll also go through withdrawals and get sick again because his body will want more. If he's already smoking, might as well give it a shot.

I tried that method with my son who was 11 at the time, it did not work, he became a smoker. I bought a pack once when I was a teen and my dad saw it, he told me if he ever caught me with another pack he would make me eat the whole pack. I never smoked. If he is close to driving I would tell him you will not allow him to get his license if he smokes, he will have to wait until he is 18.

I would sit down with him and explain the problems associated with smoking. I would also bring in a friend of yours who either has or still does smoke to explain why they wish they had never started. Health, financial, and social difficulties involved with smoking would be good things to cover. Take it from me, I smoke and I wish I had never started. I have tried several different methods to help me quit with no success. I do think that if I had someone explain to me, rationally, the issues involved with smoking along with evidence I would have been less attracted to smoking.

My nephew- to the best of my knowledge- has never smoked. When he was about 11, my parents took him to see a friend who was dying of cancer. The friend had IVs all over him and tubes up his nose. My parents then told my nephew what had happened, how this friend used to smoke a lot. Until he became like this.
