When I have a cold or flu it usually ends with a very dry painful cough. Coughing fits start with little or no warning and remind me of when I had whooping cough as a child. These spasms can be very frightening leaving me fighting for breath and feeling totally exhausted, and the current cough is the worse I have experienced for years.

So far I have tried Pholcodine dry cough linctus, but this doesn't seem to be working very well this time.

As I have Diabetes type 2 I have seen a doctor, and been put on a course of antibiotics.

As winter hasn't started yet I am dreading the next few months, and would also like to know if there is anything I can do or take as a preventative for the future. I will be particularly interested to know of any alternative remedies
.

my 75 days old son has the following symptoms
breathing rate--- he has a fast breathing rate,,,,color changes---- the colour of his nails is blue sometimes -- grunting ---- he gruntns while he takes every breath.... nose flareing---- his nose flares while takeing breath....retractions
The chest appears to sink in just below the breastbone with each breath - one way of trying to bring more air into the lungs

sweating
There is be increased sweat on the head, but the skin does not feel warm to the touch. More often, the skin may feel cool or clammy. This may happen when the breathing rate is very fast.-
wheezing
A tight, whistling or musical sound heard with each breath he takes .so all this symptoms have been there since the day he has been born.therefore i took my son to a pediatric he saw all the symptoms and refered my kid to an EAR NOSE THROAT sepeclist.so the ENT seplist after seeing my kid has told that they will do a DLS on my kid. What i as made to understand was there will be a small pipe type of thing which the doctor will be incerting through the mouth of the baby.
now my question are
1. what are this sypmtons of my kid? what is the problem with the child ?
2.what is the solution?
3 what is this DLS? and is it ok for a 75 days old baby to undergo this test?
4. what are the risk envolved in this test?
5. should i go for this test or not?what if i want to avoid this test for the baby?

I have a six year old who gets asthma and croup. I humidify the room to get rid of the croup, then his asthma gets worse dry it, then he gets croup. He doesn't fully understand his condition, so I can't ask him. For example, yesterday he started coughing and I felt he might be needing his asthma medication, but he insisted he was fine and he woke up coughing till he threw up mucus, so I gave him his powder medicine and ventolin.

I have had a terrible cough stuffy nose, sore throat, achey, chills, fever. Could i get pneumonia from this? I know babies can (my baby has it and is being treated and closely monitored) I am very concerned as I was having chest pains last night and my lungs are burning. SHould I see my dr? I am a smoker (outside only because of the baby) I have tried 3 times to quit without results including using medications to help.

Is there some kind of OTC meds. or some kind of home remedy or natural healing techniques that a woman can use to help her to breathe easier? She has COPD, and she takes 4 breathing treatments a day, and she sleeps with Oxygen at night. The breathing treatments make her really weak. Isn't there something that can help her to breathe a little easier? If you have any suggestions, pls let me know. Even the doctor says that he's heard of something, but even he can't remember it! Thanks!

I just got over a cold about 2 weeks ago. I wasn't able to go to the Dr. then. I am still wheezing in the morning and at night. I made an appointment but it isn't until Nov 13. I was wondering if my symptoms go away can the still tell me if I had asthma or bronchitis. I seem to get bronchitis everytime I get a cold. But I was wondering if its something else. I did have asthma as a child but out grew it. I also wheeze if I cough or laugh a lot. So I was wondering is the way to tell if its asthma if my symptoms go away?
