How often is it safe to have an X-ray of the chest or the Yearly examination of the chest or the teeth by X-ray?

X-ray does not present any hazard of over- exposure. Patients' concern about X-ray exposure is highly exaggerated. Physicians and dentists use very small doses of X-rays for their pictures. The safety limits are so well for all machines that those specially trained in their use cannot overexpose their patients.

In other words: as long as a trained person on a certified machine is taking the x-ray photos you're good to go =).

I've actually had 14 x-rays taken in one day and then was sent for a bone scan (which uses nuclear medicine) around 3 days later. So far I still have all my fingers and toes and only 1 head =)

X-ray are dangerous.

But if you need them, they can be very helpful. So basically if a doctor prescribes the x-ray there is a reason for them, so get it done.

You have to think, does the benefit out weight the risk?

Obviously, don't get a chest film done everytime you cough, but if there is an issue you are tryingt o resolve have the film done.

Any radiation is to much radiation if it is not needed.

But I do agree, definalty go to a certified hospital or clinic (there are some states in the US that certifcation is not required) to make sure the equiptment is being used properly and safely.
