Go to the county hospital. Cook County hospital is located on Ogden and Harrison. Be prepared for a long, long wait.

okay, if it is an emergency and you don't have health insurance, just go to the e.r. they cannot refuse to treat you, regardless of insurance.

legally, the hospital has to provide you with financial counseling before making you pay.

you will receive a bill, but just call them and explain the situation. many hospitals have indigent care programs. if you are below a certain income bracket, you won't have to pay or it will be minimal. (it can at the very least be negotiated as the amount you would pay if you had insurance). and you can always fight it, based on the financial counseling bit.

if it's not as urgent, call up a local doctor's office and ask about free clinics.

but don't delay. bottom line, your health is most important. just go now and take care of the payment later. the e.r. is the best bet for that.

No hospital is free. Some will offer discounted rates based on income, but those are few and far between. If you cannot afford the labor and delivery costs you should consider what the baby will cost! No hospital can sue for collections so long as you make the minimum monthly payments. Have you considered planned parenthood? I bet they will do it. They are real doctors, you know!

Honey, go to any emergency room... They have to treat you. I wouldn't mention the "free" thing though...
