Does anyone else out there have the condition Phenylketonuria? My niece was born with it and has a sibling with it. I know its not life threatening (when special diets are followed) and I know its not contageous. In fact I know everything I need to know for now as my neice is only 1. I would just like to know how many other people on Y! answers has PKU.

My older brother has either been sick or has buliema for years. He is a 49 year old man that stands at 6'3, once weighted about 250 solid. He has be constantly vomiting 4 times a day for 3 years and now weights about 130. He has been having constant hiccups for so he says that he vomiting to stop the hiccups but now it's become scary. My mother and I see him and he looks like he can't go one any longer with the weight lost. The weird thing is, he still goes to work every morning with no problem and around family acts like nothing is wrong. Almost like WE don't know he's been doing it! But we don't think he is buliemic at his age but we don't know how ANYONE can live this long doing this. He has said that doctors have said that he has pancreatic cancer but that was 2 years ago but from my studies, he shouldn't have lived 6 months past the diagnosis. Is there a a dieases the causes chonic vomiting? And frankly, how long can he live like this?

I have always had it. it runs in my family and nothing i've tried helps for long. i always go back to being up all night eventually - no matter how hard i try to adjust my schedule to the rest of the world. i walk around completely sleep deprived resultantly - most often with only 3-4 hours of sleep. i'm grouchy in the morning, can't think, sleep walk until noon and everyone else's beloved breakfast only makes me sleepier. so, i am wondering is it sometimes healthier for a person to just go with their natural timeclock? is fighting my natural tendencies placing undue stress upon me? is it time look for a night job? would that in fact be healthier for me?

help, please!

I had little bumps in my armpit before but I never thought too much of them. They usually just smart for a day or so and go away. This one though is like the size of a gumball and I can't lift my arm in the air without it hurting. It looks like somebody hit me with a BB pellet and the skin is all swollen. Could this have something to do with a thyroid condition? I've been checked for that before I was told I was fine. However lately I don't have any energy and just sleep forever like 14 hours sometimes. Maybe I'm making too much out of it.

My great toe nail has suddenly started to curve inwards which is causing pain and puss also. I have no idea how this happened. The only reason I can think of is that it is due to my sitting with folded legs while nursing my baby. Before my baby was born, I never use to sit in that posture for long time. I have already faced nail bed infection with other toe and it was very painful. Please advise if this is nail bed infection or not. How to cure this problem. I heard nail bed happens due to water but how can it cause my nail to curve inwards. My brother has the same problem with both his toes.

I ate some turkey yesterday about 3pm, and it tasted alright, but did smell kind of wierd and was a touch slimey...I went ahead and ate it, mostly bc I was in a hurry to get to school, it was just one or two pieces in a wrap, and at about 12am, I started to feel real sick...my stomach started cramping REALLY bad! And of course, diarrhea...but no vomiting, I felt like I needed to, but never did. Also, during the cramping my legs and feet WOULD NOT STOP SHAKING! I finally got to sleep after being in pain for like 2-3 hours...today I felt a little better, couldnt really eat anything, and now my stomach is vibrating...its the best way I can describe it (weird I know)
Is this food poisoning??
Should I just let it runs its course?

I have no health Insurence so Im kinda just looking for people who have possibly suffered the same thing. Please help

It's only painful to touch, i thought maybe a pimple and tried to pop it , but nothing happened, no puss just a small dot of blood and then it quickly healed it's self and didn't bleed. I treated it with some peroxide, and alcohol. I'm going to the doctor Monday for another check up, but am very bothered and baffled as to what this thing could be. It's about the size of my pinky nail, red, and swollen. From what I know about genital herpes it sdoesn't sound anything like herpes nore does it look like herpes. Not to mention the fact that I'm married and this has never happend before. I'm so confused. Well if anyone has had this happen and could give some advice let me know. Please no rude comments, it's completely not needed, and Yes I do know I need to talk to my doctor, so please don't state the obvious, i just want to know if anyone else has had this sort of thing happen. Thank you

His belly has a pooch on one side, and he has an obvious umbilical hernia. The doctor did not look at it but said that there are never complications with an umbilical hernia. I've heard different, and it bothers me that she shook it off without even seeing him. (he's displaying alot of the signs of having Intestinal Strangulation -- his umbilical cord stump is hard and frequently unable to recede back or be pushed back into the abdomen, sensitivity in the area, constipation, increased appettite, etc. (My two week old son is eating approximately 4 ounces every two hours, or sometimes 2.5 ounces every hour. Im an infant care specialist, and from my training and experience, this is an awful lot.) He also seems to have trouble passing gas -- he screams an extremely painful sounding cry, unlike any infant cry i've ever heard, and I've heard alot. I really want to take him to the hospital, but the doctor was so sure of herself. Am I just being paranoid, or should I take him in?

Someone in my family has suddenly quit his job, claiming he has MD and cannot see. But we have our doubts.
He claims that his MD symptoms pretty much "come and go." When he first wakes up in the morning, it takes him an hour to get his eyesight. And though he says he is too blind to drive, he drives himself around when he feels like driving.
So my question is, specifically what are the symptoms of this condition? Does it come and go? Is it worse first thing in the morning? He says he can't see because everything gets dark. Is that a symptom?
I need help with this, to see if we're overreacting.
