there was a question about alcoholism earlier and someone answered that there was a four question test and if you answered yes to any of the questions, you should seek help. One of the questions was 'have you ever cut back on your drinking?'

Why would that be bad? Wouldn't it be worse to never reduce your drinking, to just increase it for years and years. I mean, if I drink a little more than usual for a few months, cutting back does not make me an alcoholic. I don't understand this.

Can anyone explain the logic of this thing to me?

Both hands are bothering me, they are very tender to the touch. If I even bump them against something, it hurts badly. It almost feels as if they are bruised or have been smashed with something. Very, very, tender and very weak now. I don't know if it's a problem with the joints or if it might be arthritis or what. None of my other fingers hurt, just seems to be along the sides of the thumbs and the puffy part under the thumbs (on the palm). Any ideas?

I have had a terrible earache for about 3 days now. It feels like someone is stabbing me with an ice pick in the side of my head. I get relief with heat but now I have a really sore spot on top of my head. I can feel the pain all the way from my ear to the spot. Is this normal for an earache/infection?

I've had this small bump on the side of my neck ever since I was a small child and when you press on it, it moves. Could it possibly be a benign tumor?

(Is strangulation a possible cause?) -- Is there more knowledge now (compared to forty years ago) that allows a doc to understand that an injury is occurring, and/or are there newer techniques (in the last forty years or so) to deal with it (to prevent cerebral palsy). (Especially interested in techniques around the birth to halt the injury).

Hi. Way back at the beginning of October I got a really bad cold that lasted for 8 weeks, however, since that I have still not regained my sense of taste and smell. Well, it comes back from time to time for a couple of minutes or so, then it goes again. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi, I am 15 (nearly 16) and was diagnosed with scoliosis a year and a half ago. It was at 34 degrees. I think it has gotten worse since we last got it checked, several months ago. They gave me a back brace, but I honestly don't think it's working and I don't want surgery.

Are there any exercises I can do that might help lessen the curb? This bothers me all the time now, I don't want it to get worse and I heard the surgery is risky, I'm not going to throw my life on the line just yet.

So ive only been fingered by my boyfriend and I dont think there was anything on him. I've taken 3 EPT pregnancy tests and they r all negative. I went to the emergency room two nights ago and I had a urine test a blood test a pelvic exam and a CT Scan. I feel so bloated and the area below my stomach is sticking out. The CT scan said I had pelvic fluid that was clear. Can stress make you bloat alot? I also feel some nausea at random times and I just feel so tired. Lackof sleep maybe. I heard a CT scan is more thourough then an ultra sound and I heardif your pregnant they can tell through a pelvic exam. I feel so bloated. I feel like a thing of pressure is sitting in my stomach.

Im scared that I have an STD now. I have a Canker sore on my right side of my mouth but I usually get Canker sores when I stress but last night I gave my boyfriend a BJ for like 10 seconds. He promises me he doesnt have one bc hes never done anything with any other girl and he doesnt have family history of it

hello. im 14 year old boy. i often get these weird testicular pains after sitting for a long time. it's a dull, kind of achy feeling. i also have some difficulty urinating, whic I'm pretty sure is a urethral stricutre(i've been to 2 urologists and a doctor). coudl these be linked in any way? if not, what could be the cause of the testicle problem. i perform regular testicular self exams, and each and every time i go to the doc, i get my nuts checked. so im pretty sure it's not cancer. thanks

A boy in my class (in the 80's when they stil used lead) sharpened his pencil then stabbed me in the leg. The lead broke off and the teacher dug most of it out but there is still a discoloration in that spot. I was never taken to see a doctor. through the years I have been getting all kinds of neurological symptoms including seizures and the docs can't figure it out. I never thought about lead poisining. Could that be causing my symptoms I never showed any docs this lead spot. Could that little bit of lead have been slowly poisining me all these years? If i got it removed now would it do any good? How would I get the lead out of my system if this were the case.?

Sometimes, if I have several sleep paralysis attacks where I fall back asleep between them, or if I force myself out of sleep paralysis because something frightening is happening, I feel like it hasn't completely gone away for several hours afterwards. It feels tight in my shoulders and my hands are shaky and it is hard to walk in a straight line, and it feels almost exactly like sleep paralysis, except I can move and I'm not hallucinating or thinking irrationally.

Is this normal?
