There's no one cure for constipation its about makeing lifestyle and diet changes so here goes:

1. Make sure you drink two litres of water every day - don't leave it to chance, measure it out and drink it. If you think you probably drink plenty but don't know how much you won't be drinking enough.

2. Get more fibre into your diet. you need a combination of both soluble and insoluble fibre. Add foods into your diet such as fruit, especially pears, porridge, quinoa, dried fruit, nuts and seeds, wholegrain bread, pasta, brown rice and lots of veg. You could also supplement with Lepicol (from good health food stores) which will also help repopulate your gut with good bacteria and also encourage the gut to produce its own.

3. Have a course of colonic irrigation to clear out all the old impacted matter, bacteria, toxins, mucous and general debris.

4. Do a full colon cleanse using http://www.drnatura-eu.com/log.php I tried this product recently and it is absolutely fantastic. You will do at least two big poos a day with no griping.

5. Have a food sensitivity test as intolerance (i.e. lactose) can cause constipation.

6. Deficiency in certain vitamins choline, arginine, B and C can cause constipation.

7. Cut the sugar in your diet as it reduces bowel motility (stops it moving).

8. Make sure you get some exercise everyday even if it just a brisk walk round town at lunch time.

9. Elevate your feet when you go to the loo. We are designed to defecate in a squat position. It makes a huge difference.

10. You may be short of digestive enzymes which can also cause constipation. Take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with your evening meal - if you do not get any warmth, tingling, discomfort, double the dose the following night. if still nothing you would probably benefit from supplementing with digestive enzymes.

I work with people with constipation all day (I'm a colon hydrotherapist). If you follow the instructions you will get your bowels working more effectively.

There are two laxatave tablets that are helpful called Dulcolax and Senokot. However, you should really control your bowels by natural means. By taking tablets to make yourself have a bowel movement can induce lazy muscles and a possible chance that they may cease to function properly in the future. To have regular bowel movements and escape constipation you need to eat more fibre. Fibre from raw vegetable and fruits is better for you than fibre from grains. Why? Raw vegetables and fruits are live foods with enzymes, minerals, vitamins, and many antioxidants that are charged electrically. So get more fibre from this source and less from grains. Don't forget about water. If you don't get enough water during the day, your body will take the water out of your faecal matter in the colon and make your stools hard. Drink a minimum of 3 glasses a day of pure water and work up to drinking 5-6.
More details may be obtained from a nutritionist.
Hope this helps

Natural; As much fruit and veg as you can manage... Bananas, prunes, oranges, plums and blueberries, spinach, cabbage, sprouts, sweetcorn and broccoli are particularly good, along with high fibre foodstuffs such as All Bran, Weetabix, Branflakes or wholgrain rice and pasta. Also prune juice is great.
Alternatively fill a commode or tub (that you can sit on) with boiling water, sit over it for a few minutes and refil with fresh hot water. Continue for 10 to 15 minutes, and this should do the trick, as the steam will slowly and naturally help your bowels.

Medical; Senna, Senacot, Movicol or Lactulose will do the trick pretty quick.

ALSO; if this continues for more than a week, go to a doctor as continuing constipation isn't good (let alone uncomfortable) and could be a sign of other troubles.

Drinks lots of water, eat a pot of yogurt and a banana every day... this should help a lot...

You could try DulcoEase (but that's a medicine for constipation and not exactly natural)

Eat two tablespoons of linseed with your cereal, or on it's own every day and you will become regular as clockwork. The only side effect is lots of linseed in your poo! But seriously, this is a great natural remedy and it really works.

Suppositories, anema bags...

Make sure you are eating a diet rich in fibre. Psyllium husks work very well when it comes to constipation. You can also find "natural laxatives" at health food stores as well.

FIBER, FIBER, AND MORE FIBER. Fruit like apples, prunes, banana's are good. If you are really plugged up , try a product called fleet, but do not leave the house when you take it. Stay away from eating a lot of meat, and eat more veggies, and fruit.

Eating a lot more fibre helps! Fibre isn't digestable, but it helps give your gut something to 'push against' (in the system of peristalsis, your food moves through your digestion system faster and more effectively with more fibre)! Hope this helped! xxx

Try 3 heaping teaspoons of ground flaxseed each morning--on cereal or just with water. Will help high cholesterol and BM's.
