Hi i am a nurse so don't know if i should be answering this, but it is very annoying, when the first thing someone says to you is "should i be on this much medication, what are the side affects" so i know how you feel

I'm a nurse, and I have patients do that to me..... I simply tell them they need to schedule an appointment for medical questions and answers...... I'm not getting paid to answer questions while out to dinner with my family or grocery shopping...

You may want to politely say, I can't be certain without looking at your car, please call and schedule and appointment. then hand them a business card.

I don't really mind it that much, but then you get those that, instead of asking genuine questions, start ranting off about why they hate doctors/nurses/healthcare staff.

This does not happen to physicians as much as portrayed in comics, and I imagine not to nurses either. Most people I have known respect your off duty privacy. MD
