Hi, I am 15 (nearly 16) and was diagnosed with scoliosis a year and a half ago. It was at 34 degrees. I think it has gotten worse since we last got it checked, several months ago. They gave me a back brace, but I honestly don't think it's working and I don't want surgery.

Are there any exercises I can do that might help lessen the curb? This bothers me all the time now, I don't want it to get worse and I heard the surgery is risky, I'm not going to throw my life on the line just yet.

I meant "curve" not "curb", lol, sorry guys, I'm kind of tired.

hey i'm 14 and i have a 31 degree curve. I decided not to get the back brace, and i'm doing some exercises that seem to be working. When I was first diagnosed a year ago, they said i had a 24 degree curve, and to "wait and see" if it got worse. It did, and they told me i needed a brace. I opted out, and did some exercises i learned at an alternative medicine clinic. I got re x-rayed a month ago, and the progression stopped- the exercises worked! Now I'm working to get the curve back to normal.

Here are the exercises I do twice a day:

1) Determine which way your curve is pointing. If your spine is curved to the left, lean to the left and straight again. Repeat this about 20 times.

2) Stretch as far as you can in the direction of your curve. Hold for about 15 seconds and release.

Don't sleep on your stomach, as this puts pressure on your spine. Sleep only on your back or on the side.

Hope this helps! Good luck with your scoliosis.

i'm 20 and have had scoliosis in view that i replaced into approximately 14. I surely have constantly been very athletic with activities and stuff, even with my returned. I run purely approximately regular and particular my returned hurts at nighttime and my knees provide me concern after various days of working in a row reckoning on how confusing I push myself. i bypass to the chiropractor usually to get an adjustment and a rub down to relax my muscular tissues around my backbone. I surely have familiar the undeniable fact that i'm no longer able to do lunges and such with weights bc it hurts my knees too undesirable, yet i'm in a position to get in some leg exercises with lighter weights approximately as quickly as a week bc that's greater efficient than no longer something. If i do do this, then I surely tend to take it hassle-free that day and purely relax or walk, so it is not too plenty severe impact. I surely have additionally been including in motorbike driving on days whilst i've got faith that i'm no longer able to run. attempt abs on a stability ball...i stumble on it greater hassle-free on my returned.
