I went to the doctor because I was short of breath and had tightness in my chest. I was diagnosed with GERDS but they also did bloodwork on me and said that my platelets were low. Platelet count was 34. I also have a very severe bladder and kidney infection. I already have Spina Bifida and have since birth but don't think that has anything to do with it. The doctor said that this probably meant that I had something viral. I was but on Levaquin for the bladder/kidney infection and during this time I began feeling dizzy, light-headed, and very shaky with a slight headache. I stopped the medacine and I feel alot better but not back to normal. I am just worried about my platelet count though because I got on the internet to see what could cause that and according to what I understand on some websites, a cause could be Luekeimia. This just really freaks me out Could it really be this bad? Am I overreacting? Please help!

I'm doing great on Enbrel with methx but Dr wants me to skip a week since I have shingles. I am worried I will go into a flare if I miss my weekly shot. Has anyone had to miss a shot and how did it go? Thanks for any info. Pat

If a patient goes to A&E unable to walk and is suspected of having a hairline crack in the femoral neck, would you say that sending them home partially weightbearing then not carrying out an isotopic bone scan for 2 weeks is unacceptable? This happenend to me and on the day they finally did the scan I broke my hip completely getting out of the shower. I was only 22 at the time - shouldn't they have scanned and operated on the hairline fracture quicker?

Doctors say that I have IBS but I'm not sure that is what it is. I have so much pain in my upper adominal area that I break out into a sweat, lose my vision and now according to my co-workers I turn white as a ghost. Does this happen to some of you when you have pain or IBS attacks, whatever you want to call it.

Does anyone know how this disease is transmitted/concieved? Is it genetic, or does someone have to be exposed to a substance of some sort (chemicals/radiation/etc)?

Can it be passed down to family members?

His chances aren't good (maybe a 30% chance) but if he survives, he can never ever drink again which will be hard for him because he would normally drink a case of beer a day.

Does anyone know of any good vitamins, therapies, etc. that could help? My family is just grasping at straws but I thought I'd ask.
