Went to the doctor 5 years ago for a physical and I had a high AST level- 101. The Dr. said it was bc of my mono and dismissed it. Recently I went back for another physical and my AST was still elevated (no more mono tho). I am 21, do not drink, and am healthy otherwise, no probs. I have had numerous blood tests, MRI'S, and ultra sounds. I also went to see a hemotologist (blood specialist). Everytime I get a blood test my AST is between 50 and 150. My bilirubin has been elevated before-but it is not always elevated and nothing else is elevated. My doctors do not seemed concerned-the hemotologist diagnosed me with Gilbert's syndrome, but I think that it is/may be something else. I dont believe that has anything to do with AST does it? Please help-I am a worry wort! It kind of bothers me my doctors just dismissed this issue.

I went to the a new barber today. It looked like he used some disinfectant, but it only was sprayed a little on the clippers for a brief period of time. He used new razors to shave my sideburns. He was rather rough with a foil cutter on my neck. So, if nothing penetrated the skin, just roughed it up. could you get anything?
Thanks, and please post serious and mature answers

Details:
I took two sips from a glass (no straw) that someone else took a single sip via a straw from. Is there any likelihood of contracting a disease from doing this. The person is known to be in good health, known them for several years, though I haven't seen them much recently. It could be that I'm being paranoid and have a touch of hypochondria, but it would be nice to put the fears to rest.

It is difficult to imagine the number of hands a single dollar bill may pass through in its lifetime. As a result, there are probably hundreds of thousands of bills that have passed through the hands of someone with an infectious disease. Could a disease spread via currency?

and I've been reading a bunch of medical stuff about it, and I found that 95% of Americans get Mono at some point and then you always have it and cant get infectious mono again. if this is so, why don't they just give everyone mono when theyre little and then they don't have to deal with it when theyre older?
I guess they dont think its important enough since people rarely die, but it can make things very tough on people lifewise because of fatigue and conmtagiousness.
