My doctor just called and said my white blood cell count is 17.7 and I should have it checked out. Does this just mean I have an infection of some sort, or is something seriously wrong? (I don't feel very sick.)

The reason I ask this is because there is an old saying about people who are travelling to mexico, etc, something like "Don't drink the water" and its known to give visitors the runs. But it does not effect people who live there , only visitors. Thats why I thought they might have an immunity from e. coli from prior exposure. I know there are other causes of waterborn illness, but I'm under the impression that when travellers get " the runs" from drinking water in various parts of the earth, it is e. coli that is causing it most of the time.
So if I already had an e. coli infection once, can I get it again?

I tried to look up people who have asked about lyme disease but most people do not allow email contact so I wanted to post something that has taken forever to figure out. my friend's brother was in the hospital today from what she said was swallowing to much lake water. he was throwing up a lot and they covered him with a lot of blankets and kept taking his temperature. so i just wondered if there was a name for what sickness he had!? does anyone know?

I caught Lyme disease early like 3 days when a bullseye appeared on my leg. I took medication for 3 weeks. But I still have massive headaches and panic attacks. So i asked for another 3 weeks of meds I'm into the 2nd week and i still have horrific thoughts and depressions i'm affraid i'm going to hurt myself or someone else. I want my life back whats going on!! Is this even normal i'm usually a happy person is this normal to be depressed from this whats up with this desease!

Hello,
I work as a hospital locum in london and I have been against the BCG injection due to scarring. I am now informed because of bloody agency ways I have to have the BCG or discontinue my work. It is no longer standard to have BCGs in australia as it does not ensure 100% immunity.
I would like to know if the BCG can be injected anywhere other than the arm. I know they prefer the arm scar as an indication that the injection has been done, but immunity could also be tested by another manoux test.
If it has to be the arm, is there anything that can help with the swelling and all the pusssssssssssss? I don't want a scar.

I have been suffering for 4 years-used to do IV drugs, caught it as a secondary infection(most people do) I am sober now for 2 years, and I still get major break-outs-esp. on my face. Im just wondering, I had this like almost 3 years ago, my throat was very inflamed and red on the left side of my mouth, and there was a round red bump that was red and hurt to touch. Like and my throat was sore, but the bump hurt really badly after I tocuhed it. It happened a day or so after I had sex with a girl, im thinking it could be mono or strep....but what if it was syhphilis? i had unprotected sex two days before i sufferd a misscarriage i was 8 weeks pregnant.i had to have a dnc and chose to be put to sleep...is there any chance of me gettin pregnant from the previous sex i had or would the sperm of been removed during the dnc?
