Im just wondering, I had this like almost 3 years ago, my throat was very inflamed and red on the left side of my mouth, and there was a round red bump that was red and hurt to touch. Like and my throat was sore, but the bump hurt really badly after I tocuhed it. It happened a day or so after I had sex with a girl, im thinking it could be mono or strep....but what if it was syhphilis? Im gonna go get tested right away, but what does this sound like to you guys?

oh, and the bump was located on the left upper roof of mouth...like where the mouth starts to come down down towards the back of throat.

I tend to agree with "the_only_solorose" but oral thrush presents as white patches or bumps. It might possibly be mono or strep but you'll need to be tested for both. I doubt that it's a problem with the styloid process as was suggested by one person. This is Eagle syndrome and you haven't described the symptoms of it.

Strep does very odd things. Since you have gone to the MD already call them back and ask them - if it's related watch those bumps as if you do have strep a staph infection could be the culprit to this now - My daughter had strep this spring and they did a false neg. and didn't treat her a week later the strep attacked her muscles and a tooth (bone) in her mouth - she was very ill for over a week - trying to recover. Be sure you are taking the medicine as needed and washing hands - bedding, keep the skin clean.

There is a long slim bony process called the stylohyoid bone in that location which projects from the skull and ends just under the mucous membrane of the soft palate in the location you decribed . If longer than normal it may get traumatised by food etc. and then become painful for several days. If left alone it will usually heal normally ,if not it can be surgically shortened.

It's definetly not Strep and was likely caused by your sex earlier. See your doctor.

well it's not syphillis I can tell you that. It may be strep, but doesn't sound like it. Frankly it sounds more like oral thrush to me. Keep your appt. to see a doctor. He will be able to tell you more.
