I dispose of them in the specially designated "sharps containers" we have around the hospital.

I called our local health department and they said that as long as everyone in the house knows about them, it is ok to use a half gallon plastic milk carton, or similar. NOT cardboard, but the plastic. Then advised me to take them to the local hospital if they would accept and if not, to the fire department for disposal. As it turned out, our garbage service accepted them as long as they were in the plastic carton, and handed to the garbage man, so he wouldnt accidently step on them, and possible puncture, when he pushes the garbage down. That was temporary till I could get a sharps container. I got mine thru the pharmacy.

You can get a Sharps container at just about any pharmacy. Ask them if they offer disposal services.

Use a "sharps container" for immediate storage, and you might contact your local pharmacy for permanently getting them disposed of safely.
