It is my understanding that a new flu shot is needed each year because the virus evolves and new strains emerge. How does the CDC (or whomever it is that develops the yearly flu shot) go about identifying those new strains before the flu season rolls around?

I wanted to know what everyones outlook on vaccines are. Do you vaccinate your children, why or why not? Have you researched vaccines or are you just making a society based desion? What do you think are the pro's and con's. * I will start, I am VERY anit - vaccine, I used to not be and actually got my 14 month old son all of his vaccines up until he was 12 months. AT that appointmen the doc told me to make sure Kendetrick wasn't sick at his 15 month appointment because he was getting the MMR shot and it is liked to Autism! So, I started researching,- I research EVERYDAY possible, I have decided to NOT vaccinate my son further because the risks of the vaccine really outweigh the risks of him getting any of these 'childhood disease'. PLUS the ingrediants of vaccinations.MOST vaccines contain Mercury, aluminum, formaldehyde, aborted fetal cells, animal cells, ect... If you look at the death rates there are far more deaths from vaccines the there are from the disease we vaccinate against

I have a customer that while he was leaving the store, admitted he has leprosy but was on anti-biotics at the time. He came in and I handled his cash, and touched his laptop. I probably only came as close to him as 2 feet, for only about 2 or so minutes talking to him. I have washed my hands immediately afterwards. Is it usually possible for me to contract leprosy, even though it would most likely be dormant in me. Also, if it is possible, should I tell a doctor about it or is it only treatable once the symptoms manifest themselves? Thanks

Can the Human Immuno Virus infect common house pets such as dogs, cats and rabbits? Or is it a human specific virus?

My daughter had mono last year. She just got over another case of it last month. I thought that mono was something you only got once. I also thought that it was "the kissing disease". I'm confused.

A month ago almost exactly I went to the doctor and was diagnosed having strep throat.. I immediately took a 3 day antibiotic for them (azithromycin), and i wasnt getting any better.. than i went back to the doctors and took 7 days of amoxicillin. While taking both of these medications my sore throat felt worse, even tighter and more swollen than usual, and i felt dizzy and really fatigued during the whole process. I'm still not well.. (I've tested twice for mono, so thats not the issue) My question was really that of why would the antiobitics make me feel so horrible while taking them every one.. and then why wouldn't at least some of the symptoms wouldn't ease up? Any help? Thank you!

I realize it probobly won't get any better, I have been trying to get off methodone over 14 yrs I did a few times , then went back on it , I am on a very low dose , like15 mils a day , as I continue to try to get off this. I also take one .5 mil klonopin every night .. to ease withdrawls and anxioty.. but i do feel sick alot I am always so tired .. I wonder if I will ever feel ok , I know I will never be what I was once but can I feel better by changing my diet , i am overwhelmed. .. oh yeah I also contracted hep b when I was 19 from a partner, whom I at the time did not know was using drugs.
