A month ago almost exactly I went to the doctor and was diagnosed having strep throat.. I immediately took a 3 day antibiotic for them (azithromycin), and i wasnt getting any better.. than i went back to the doctors and took 7 days of amoxicillin. While taking both of these medications my sore throat felt worse, even tighter and more swollen than usual, and i felt dizzy and really fatigued during the whole process. I'm still not well.. (I've tested twice for mono, so thats not the issue) My question was really that of why would the antiobitics make me feel so horrible while taking them every one.. and then why wouldn't at least some of the symptoms wouldn't ease up? Any help? Thank you!

...ah, not all drugs are for all people. Many people have allergic or bad reactions to different drugs - even antibiotics. However, it is imperative that you contact your doctor right away. She/he will be able to prescribe a new antibiotic for you. Make certain that you keep a record of the prescriptions that you have a bad reaction to, and additionally make certain that this info. is recorded at the pharmacists/doctor's office.

if im reading this correctly you were on antibiotics 1 month ago and currently are not on any...as for feeling bad on the meds if whatever you had was a viral infection antibiotics would not help...it sounds like you need to revisit your doctor and have more testing done...also when you were on them if you felt the symptoms you listed, especially the tight feeling in your throat that needs to be reported immediately as it could signal a reaction to the meds

Antibiotics make abot 3% of people sick like taht, I currently am taking Z-pack, maybe you should ask for that. It gave me mild nausea the first day, abdominal pain the next and today just a little dizzy. It didn't bother me enough to stop taking it. Z-pack is a 5 day antibiotic....in case your interested.....

If you felt tighter that's how I felt until my doctor said I was allergic to it. Ask your doctor for a different medication other than pencillan. You might be allergic to pencillan.
