In a nutshell: The more humans who contract the H5N1 virus from poultry, waterfowl animals etc... the more opportunity the virus has to emerge and 'reassort' itself with human genes ultimately resulting in a new pandemic strain which our bodies would initially have no natural defense to. What are your views on this and the current situation?

My husband, son and I are living with my Dad, Mom, Sister, Brother-in-law, and their baby boy. My dad and my nephew both have symptoms of a stomach virus. The symptoms started showing up yesterday morning for my nephew and last night for my dad. My nephew has a fever. My dad does not. Both have been throwing up and both have diarheah (or however you spell that infernal word)

Questions:
-Once you have the virus, when you are most contagious? Are you more contagious before you have symptoms or after or both or neither?
-How long is the incubation period for stomach viruses?
-Would the flu shot help my son not to get it?
-How can you tell the difference between food poisoning and viral infection?
-How are stomach viruses spread?

My BIG concern is that we are going on vacation next week and I'd hate for my son to be sick. If he were to get the virus, do you think he would get it and be over it by next weekend? Oh please say yes. I'm going nuts here!

My son has been exposed to a couple of people just before and just after they started showing symptoms of a stomach virus. What is the incubation period for stomach viruses, and how long do they last? What are the best ways to prevent my son from coming down with it if he doesn't already have it. No symptoms yet, but how long until I can say, "Oh good, he hasn't gotten it yet, so he's not getting it"?

i just recently lost health insurance so i can't get a dr. to look at it. it's not as itchy as with pink eye but i'm wondering what else it could be? i have the crusties in my eye in the morning but it doesn't itch. what is wrong w/ my eye if it's not pink eye?

I had a UTI about a couple of weeks ago and had taken Bactrim for it. I was then expiercing stomach cramps and couldn't sleep. Acouple days after i took the medicine i noticed my toung in the back was white. Could this be thrush? NO sore throat and i do not have tonsils. Also extreamly stress and swollen glands? Help?

I am not able to get an appointment in for months. I dont have insurance or medicad so I go to the health dept. But they aren't able to see my for months. My urinary tract infection began yesterday or at least that's when I started to feel the symptoms. I only drink water already and I cut sweets out of my diet about three days ago. I need advice on how to get rid of the infection without antibiotics.
