why is the removal of CSF from the subarachnoid space a reliable diagnosis of meningitis?

Form the term of the disease itself..MENINGITIS meaning the inflammation of the meninges ( part fo the brain ). CSF is the most realible specimen to use since it has direct contac with meninges. CSF is a sterile (meaning not other bacteria or microorganisms MUST be present ). So, if CSF is cultured and the bacteria is detected, this will give us the idea what particular medicines should be given to patients.Hope this helps. Godbless
