My husband had a piece of unstable plaque break off and block an artery last year resulting in a stent implantation. His Dr. said that if my husband had a stress test the day before this happened, he would have passed the test. So, what good would it have done? Why should he continue to have these the rest of his life and have radiation put into his body and go through this dangerous test? If it is absolutely necessary, then how often should it be done?

A year ago it was 7.5.
After two stents in January, the count in May this year was 3.5.
Last month it was 3.8.
I have not viruses, or any other sickness, all checked clean.
I am 59.
So what's going on?

During my first few months of service I collapsed and now have a heart murmor. It was diagnosised as ventrical regurge. One ventricle in my heart doesn't close completely and allows blood to flow back into another chamber. They said it was because of drinking on the weekend . It was diagnosised after i complained of sharp chest pain and the doctor gave me echocardiogram and an ekg reading. The pyshican said my ekg was abnormal and if i was 30 he would have been worried. since then I have never gotten my wind back and it still never feels right in my chest. Every time I run it is in the back of my head that some thing might be wrong and that the stress of military life could be making things worse. Right as I was getting these test we were gearing up to deploy. And I suspect during peace time I would have been discharged but was unfairly kept to keep up unit strength.Should I have had to deploy, and when I get back should I see them and a civilian doctor again and fight for a discharge

My heart has been racing for at least 4 years. It used to happen just once a month and race for about an hour or two. I had to wear a heart monitor but they said it was normal for a kid my age (i'm 15). But now its happening almost everyday or every two days. It can last from a couple of seconds to a couple of hours. And the other wierd part is that sometimes it happens when im relaxing, like sitting watching tv or lying down. My mom says it just from eating to much sugar, can that be true? Can anyone who has had the same problem tell me if this is normal or serious. Thanks.

My husband just saw the Dr. and he said he heard a swooshing sound with his stethascope...in my husbands lower left abdoman. He didn't think it was heart related cause it IS so low. He called it bruits and ordered him to have an ultrasound done. What could it be they are looking for? I am worried as he is also. Can someone please tell us something it might be that may be minor. Or is this very serious? Dr. checked him before and he never heard this. What could it be? And what will they have to do? What can an ultrasound show in this case? Thank you for any information you may have. He has nothing to indicate any problem. It was a routine check up.....He had not been sick or anything. Wouldn't there be signs of a problem if there were one?

Just diagnosed with psvt, but after one bad episode ( my first one for 10 years of so ), I've had a cardiac ablation recommended. My cardiologist makes it sound like no big deal, however the research on the net warns of some nasty complications that could arise ie. Death, Stroke, internal bleeding ..... Of course if I don't have it the same risks hold true. I'm just wondering if it's worth alternative therapy and preventative steps, as opposed to the surgery. I'm thinking if I have another attack then the surgery is probably a no brainer, but having it right away seems a bit hasty. Am I right?

I have had a slight case of varicose veins on my lower left leg for many years with no detrimental effects. An ultrasound & blood test show that I have deep vein blood clots. Hematologist says I should take Enoxaparin 80 mg subcutaneously every 12 hrs. for the rest of my life.

Am interested in possible differing opinions as well as those that agree.

It felt exactly like a muscle contraction b/c i used to get them in my calves but i am scared b/c i never had one in my chest. It lasted about 2 minutes, could it have been a heart attack or am i being hypochondriac?

If my blood pressure is fine, does it mean my heart is healthy? What other tests can be done to determine if your heart is healthy? I am 28 and have heart problems in my family. Am I too young to go for a cholesterol test? Anything I can eat/drink to improve my heart function? I only exercise lightly due to fibromyalgia.

My dr has given me a course of beta blockers to take for suspected anxiety. I have had numerous ecg's which say my heart is fine, my dr has examined me and said he is 99% sure my heart is ok and any future tests would come back normal. Just wondering if i can excersise as normal on beta blockers.

My ex-husband (we are still friends) works in a non air conditioned body shop, in Hotlanta, Georgia. It gets up to 110 degrees in there in the summer. He has a cardiac arrythmia. I just wrecked my car and we are getting divorced. He has been having some chest pain lately.
What should I do (stopping the divorce is out of the question).?
