Just diagnosed with psvt, but after one bad episode ( my first one for 10 years of so ), I've had a cardiac ablation recommended. My cardiologist makes it sound like no big deal, however the research on the net warns of some nasty complications that could arise ie. Death, Stroke, internal bleeding ..... Of course if I don't have it the same risks hold true. I'm just wondering if it's worth alternative therapy and preventative steps, as opposed to the surgery. I'm thinking if I have another attack then the surgery is probably a no brainer, but having it right away seems a bit hasty. Am I right?

The web gives research statistics, in my opinion you should listen to your cardiologist.
No alternate medicine will NOT help you out.

the risk of the ablation procedure is significantly less than the risk of having another PSVT - those are nasty - (my husband has them frequently)

Ablation is really better than the drugs they'll offer you as an alternative - the drugs mess with your energy, emotions... they're just icky.

Go for the procedure - and try to get your svt issues behind you - you're better off with the invasive procedure than a lifetime of drugs that make you feel like crap.

I've had the problem for over 20 years. Have taken medicine most of that time to control it. I had cardiac ablation to correct mine May 11, 2007. It was virtually painless, I was awake the entire time. The only discomfort for me was lying still for the 4 hours it took to correct mine. Before I was wheeled out of the OR, my doc told me not to take anymore of my heart meds. I was cured and now I feel great!!! Plz, if your doc recommends it, have it done. I 150% recommend it.
