The reason for this question is that I've switched from Quest to LabCorp for bloodtests. Quest measures Lp(a) [lipoprotein (a) ] in nmol/L while LabCorp measures it in mg/dL. Since I don't know how to convert from one to the other, I don't know how to compare my results. Any help on this is appreciated.

Lately, I have been having these episodes where my pulse gets much faster. It does not usually get above a hundered but for me eighty is about normal. It seems to happen a lot at night but also happens during the day. It usually only lasts for a few minutes. I didn't think anything of it at first but now it continues to happen. Does anyone think this could be arrhythmia or something else?

It says taking Naproxen can increase your risk of life-threatening heart or circulation problems, including heart attack or stroke. This risk will increase the longer you use an NSAID.

My doctor gave me this to take and im only 17.Will it be bad it i take it every month for my menstrual cramps. The stomach bleeding part worries me because i plan on using this for a long time or shouldn't i?

All this talk.

WHERE is the actual randomized clinical trial proving LDL causes CHD????

Don't give me the CRAP about statins

Researchers have already admitted.

"THERE IS NO EVIDENCE LDL REDUCTION EXPLAINS ANY MORTALITY REDUCTION OBSERVED IN STATIN THERAPY"

Hulten E et el. Effect of Early and Intensive Statin Therapy On Acute Coronary Syndrome: A Meta-analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials;Archives of Internal Medicine, 2006 166: 1814 - 1821

Statins have MANY MANY effects other than mere cholesterol lowering and statins it has been shown statins work VIA

ANTI INFLAMMATION
ANTI SPASM
ANTI CLOTTING
ANTI OXIDANT
IMPROVING NITIRC OXIDE LEVELS IN ARTERIES
ARTERY DILATION

Statins have been effective REGARDLESS OF DEGREE OF LDL LOWERING IF ANY AT ALL.

WHERE I ask is the evidence that LDL causes CHD????

All this idea is is a MYTH

So far NO ONE HAS SHOWN IT - IT DOES NOT EXIST

what are the limitations of an ecg, can they show signs for the majority of heart conditions? I have been experiencing rapid heart rates at random times with intermittent chest pain on occasions. I have a slight tightness in my chest too. I had an episode when i was walking through town where i felt light headed and my lips went blue apparently, my heart started to race, it calmed down after 2 minutes or so. I went to the hospital where i was given an ecg and told i was ok and to go home. I have spoken to my doctor about this before but am always met with reluctance to refer me on for other tests, they just say its anxiety, but they never give me any answers. My ECG's are all fine but i am not convinced.

I'm 27 and started getting some skipped heartbeats last year during my pregnancy with my 1st son. I saw a cardiologist who did an EKG, holter monitor, and Echocardiogram. He says not to worry that skipped beats are common and nothing more than a nuisance. He says everything else is normal.

I'm really trying to believe him but I don't understand how after 26 years of normal heartbeats I'd all of a sudden get "skipped beats". I also don't understand how its normal and not a sign of somehting worse.

I have 2 boys under 2 yrs. old and worry all the time about not being around for them and that the skipped beats are a sign of something horrible but the dr. has missed something because I"m young.

I'm open to the possibility of me just being neurotic and a worrier...but really, can someone explain how "skipped beats" are normal?

I had a heart montor due to a prolapsed valve that seems to have cleared on its own. But in the 24 hour period the dr. mentioned that it was "irregular" for 30% of the time and suggested something about my Thyroid needing to be checked out. What does the Thyroid have to do with the heart?

Statins work REGARDLESS of resultant LDL level.

Statins work via

ANTI INFLAMMATORY

ANTI SPASM

ANTI CLOTTING

ANTI OXIDANT

ARTERY DILATING

IMPROVING NITIRC OXIDE LEVELS

and has NOTHING

TO DO with cholesterol reduction

RESEARCHERS IN OCT 2006 ADMITTED 'THERE IS NO SIGNIFICANT EVIDENCE LDL REDUCTION EXPLAINS THESE BENEFICIAL EFFECTS"

I've been working out the past month. I dont do olympic style weight lifting, but do like to mix heavy weight with my workouts. Pro bodybuilder Kris Dim suffered aorta tear this past month and kind of worried me a little. Im 25 years old,I dont use illegal steroids, or have any medical history of heart problems.

OTHER THAN A HEART ATTACK...what kinds of things could cause left sided chest discomfort? Like around the breast, and in the rib area, and a burning in the shoulder blade?

Please, do NOT say Heart attack...I asked OTHER THAN A HEART ATTACK...what other things could cause this.

It has been going on for around 2 months now, give or take a week. I have been to the doctor and am currently waiting test results, that I should be getting Monday, so I am looking for ideas now of what could be going on.

I am 26 year old female. QUit smoking around 2 months and 3 weeks ago. Having chest soreness, and discomfort, along with some panic attacks. Occassional shortness of breath, but it isn't bad. Never lasts longer than a minute or two. Doesn't happen often. The chest soreness is there almost all the time. Activity does not increase it, infact, often times, activity helps it.

Any suggestions would be appriciated!

Thanks.

Please don't say go to dr. ALready went.
