Depending on your physical status/cardiac status, and age, I will recommend brisk walking (>50 years) and jogging in ( < 50 years of age ).
However intensive exercise/s are meant for a specific age group e.g. in Special Services Group you are given intensive physical which average person cannot tolerate; even with normal cardiac status.

Its regular exercise that works, not occasional bursts of extremely strenuous exercise.
Even consistent, regular walking is really good.....along with healthy diet......

Nope It is OCCASIONAL BURSTS THAT ARE EFFECTIVE
REGULAR, RANDOM occasional bursts like EVOLUTIONARY FITNESS FOOL
THIS is how we EVOLVED to excericse. It is what the CAVEMAN DID.
Do sprints but don't over do them IGNORE THESE LAZY HO-HUMS
3 100 meter sprints done 2-3 times a week
Walk on some days slowly for recovery

brisk walking (the younger you are the more brisk it should be)
jogging can strain your joints, most of all if you are overweight when starting
jogging is fine if done right> maintain slightly bent knees- never lock your knees- imagine your legs are like springs
