You still seem to think that statins are the only drug on the market that lowers LDL. They aren't. Zetia (Ezetimibe) is also available.

Zetia inhibits absorption of cholesterol at the brush border of the small intestine via the sterol transporter. This leads to a decreased delivery of cholesterol to the liver, reduction of hepatic cholesterol stores and an increased clearance of cholesterol from the blood; decreases total C, LDL-cholesterol (LDL-C), ApoB, and triglycerides (TG) while increasing HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C).

Zetia has no pleotropic effects, but still lowers cholesterol levels and CHD mortality.

I really wish you would stop stating your opinions as though they are facts. They are contradictory to medical science and potentially harmful to the community.

P.S. Please stop cursing at me.

Statins like Crestor, Lescol, Lipitor, Mevacor, Pravachol, and Zocor work by blocking the effects of an enzyme that helps make cholesterol. They can lower bad LDL cholesterol by an impressive 20-55%. They have a modest effect on triglycerides and give a mild boost to your good cholesterol, too.

On one hand, statins can reduce your risk of death, heart attack, stroke by 30-35%," says Sperling. NO DRUG CAN TOTALLY STOP A HEART ATTACK OR STROKE, it can only help to decrease the chances. "On the other, they pose a 1-2% risk of generally mild side effects." The benefits are often worth the small risk, Sperling says.

But the message isn't as simple as "fat is bad." There are a number of foods with healthy unsaturated fats that will actually improve your cholesterol. They include fatty fish like tuna and salmon, walnuts, and almonds. Since even good fats are high in calories, you should still eat them in moderation.

I take Lipitor and my bad cholesterol lowered 42% along with eating more of a healthy diet. Not all fat is bad as stated above, but too much is not healthy either. It won't cause me to maybe not have a heart attack etc., but it will help with the chances. In your question you did put the following and I copied and pasted it "and has NOTHING TO DO with cholesterol reduction"

Razwell,

You seem to forget that Harmony, myself, and others have pointed out the falacies in your arguments many times. Particularly the one about researchers in 2006.

I think that other people would like to look up your claims for themselves. So, when you make a claim, back it up with a PRIMARY source.

BTW, not a question

S H U T___U P ! ! ! What makes you such an expert on this? The fact that you read a book written by a fitness trainer with no training in the evaluation of effectiveness of medicines.

He is nothing but a gym rat who probably has small testicles from using steroids. He will probably end up the same as Chris Benoit!!!

OK! That's great! He's a GOD! You go ahead and worship him.

For me, I know that my arteries were clogged (or partially clogged) with the build up of plaque. I understand that this plaque build up also caused inflammation in the linings of my arteries and vessels. I also know that I am lowering my plaque building cholesterol and reducing the inflammation. I do this through exercise, diet, and medications. For this purpose I take 500mg Niaspan daily, 325mg Aspirin daily, 3000mg Fish Oil daily and 10/80 Vytorin daily. All at the suggestion of my General Practitioner and my Cardiologist (both of whom are MD's).

CHD mortality is affected by many factors, including inflammation. But, that also includes Cholesterol, Triglycerides, Blood Pressure, Congenital Heart Disease, and a Family History of Heart Disease. I'm sure there is more.

Whether I (or anyone else) agrees or disagrees with you, you have the right to believe what you like. You also have the right to express your views. You also have the right to try to convince others to follow you views. You have the right to be angry when someone disagrees with you. I support you 100% in these rights. I served 10 years in the US Navy to defend and protect those rights for you and all American Citizens. In truth, I applaud your convictions and steadfast beliefs.

I do not support, nor do you have the right, to insult, curse and defame those who choose a different belief. This is where I become angry with you. I admit I stooped to your level in an attempt to have you see how it divides you and me. Name calling, cursing and insulting those you are trying to convince of any view will never work. It shows your intellect, and only serves to divide and entrench them against you. You will never convert them.

If you really believe and want to convert those you come in contact with, try a little tact. Remain firm in your beliefs, but do it with courtesy and respect. You really can "catch more flies with honey than with vinegar."

I hope you understand this.
