Lately, I have been having these episodes where my pulse gets much faster. It does not usually get above a hundered but for me eighty is about normal. It seems to happen a lot at night but also happens during the day. It usually only lasts for a few minutes. I didn't think anything of it at first but now it continues to happen. Does anyone think this could be arrhythmia or something else?

I have also had an EKG and a stress echo, which both turned out normal.

Arrhythmia is irregular heartbeat. What you're talking about is rapid heartbeat. Take out all caffeine out of your diet for a week or so and see if you still experience a fast heart rate. Are you taking a medication of any kind? I used to get panic attacks where the only symptom was extremely rapid heartbeat and I had no idea what was going on, it felt like I had just ran a marathon and i was sitting at my desk. This was my reaction to stress. Another possibility is diabetes. You might want to get your blood sugar checked to see if you have it. That's my advice.

ARRHYTHMIA- An arrhythmia is an abnormality within the middle's rhythm, or heartbeat sample. The heartbeat will also be too sluggish, too quick, have additional beats, pass a beat, or or else beat irregularly. Arrhythmias are deviations from the average cadence of the heart beat, which purpose the center to pump improperly. The average heartbeat begins within the correct atrium, wherein the center's average pacemaker (the sinus node) sends an electric sign to the middle of the center to the atrioventricular node. The atrioventricular node then sends indications into the important pumping chamber to make the ventricle agreement. Arrhythmias arise while the heart beat begins in a side of the center instead of the sinus node, an irregular price or rhythm develops within the sinus node, or a middle conduction "block" prevents the electric sign from travelling down the average pathway. Arrhythmias are characterised by way of their web page of foundation: the atria or the ventricles. Supraventricular arrhythmias arise within the higher locations of the center and are much less severe than ventricular arrhythmias. Ventricular traumatic inflammation is probably the most severe arrhythmia and IS FATAL UNLESS MEDICAL HELP IS IMMEDIATE Arrhythmias will also be averted by way of coping with strain, controlling anxiousness, strain and warding off caffeine, alcohol, decongestants, cocaine, caffeine vitamin capsules, chewing tobacco and cigarettes aside from middle sickness. When an arrhythmia is serious, urgent treatment may be required to restore a normal rhythm. This may include intravenous medications, electrical "shock" therapy (defibrillation or cardioversion), or implanting a temporary pacemaker to interrupt the arrhythmia.
