ok, for the past three years i have had heart "complications". i've been to the hospital three times, and they've done x rays and ekg's but said that they all show up normal. they said i do have a slight abnormal heart beat, and that my left atrium ( i think thats what its called) had enlarged. but they said they found no complications? although they said i should go see a specialist, but my insurance ran out before i could. i am having these pains right now, they arent serious pain, but more of discompfort and my left arm gets numb and heavy, but that all happened the three previous times. so is there something wrong? i do suffer from anxiety, but they said that probably isnt the problem b/c of what they found on the ekg (the enlargement of the atrium) so please if you can give me any advice whatsoever i would really really appreciate it.

I took my blood pressure 3 times in 5 minutes. The first one was 123/72, the second one was 151/82 and the 3rd one was 119/84. In under 5 mintes this seems crazy to me. I don't feel dizzy or anything. Is it just that maybe my monitor isn't good? Or is this kind of reading possible? Can it be my nerves? I was nervous taking my pressure.

He was 65.He had mild MR for 3 years and managing with pills. He was attending his wife in a hospital for 1 month climbing stairs and walking long distances.Several times he got slight pain in the chest at different times for 4 days and finally admitted in hospital for severe chest pain and wheezing. After 3 hours he felt like normal. They took ECG,echoCG and prescribed new tablets. He stopped the old pills and started the new.In the evening he felt uneasy and asked for Deriffillin injection and got it.After an hour he got severe pain in the chest and collapsed in 5 minutes. My questions are,
1.Whether he should have undergone a surgery earlier?
2.Whether he should have avoided exertion?
3.Whether he would have been saved,if admitted in a good hospital?
4.Whether he died due all these resons?
Your valuable answer may save My wife's life. She mourns a lot.

I have been substituting sugar for sweetner now, and sometimes after having something with sweetner, 2 hours later I start getting heartburns.
Is it because of the sweetner?
Right now im feeling some heartburns, and for breakfast I had a bowl of all bran flakes with sweetner, is it the cereal and milk combo?

Growing up my blood pressure would be normal, maybe a little high with the top number in the 130-140's. well ever since last year when I was hospitalized and lost a LOT of blood my blood pressure has been low, like the top number really never goes over 115 and it gets to 115 when i am really moving around. a normal reading will be in the 90's-100 over 50's to 60's but heres the problem... my pulse will be in the 80's to 90's! i know that is bad because when i was in the hospital my bp would be LOW like how it is now, and pulse well over 140... can someone please tell me WHY this is bad, and if it is STILL bad with a reading of 95/50 pulse 90

My husband had a medical checkup this morning and was found to have a heart abnormality, with a strong possibility that he had an arterial blockage. The cardiologist explained that he could have either an angiogram or a ct scan in order to investigate the condition further, but recommended an angiogram. His reasoning was that if a blockage was found during this procedure, then an angioplasty (sp?) could be performed at the same time.

My husband is only 41 years' old, has never had any health problems, is not overweight and exercises regularly. This condition was only picked up because of the checkup.

What are the risks of an angiogram? Is it better to have a ct scan instead?. What are the risks of an angioplasty? Will he have any problems recovering from either of these procedures?

If he has the angioplasty, does this mean he will not have a heart attack in the future?

Does anyone have some advice for us?

before my wife's death june 18 2006 - I was on a minimal dose of blood pressure meds, then m y blood pressure kept going up and up - it was starting to come down some and then my dog died August 8th and it's been fairly high since
I exercise daily-I usually exercise a minimum of 30 minutes a day of cardio and I usually get an hour or so. I also follow a low fat vegan diet.but now I live alone, my family is out of state(need help to move), only 3 people have stayed in touch with me since my wife died 2 out of state, and the other is out of town as well about 2 1/2 hours away - I go to the gym almost daily - I still am on disability - I'm still doing physical therapy - but I have no social support here, I do try but everyone vanished and it takes time for me to get to know new people.I've been to a grief counselor since november, grief groups didn't work for me - women call each other, nobody supported me,so why have men come? I haven't been able to cry-all bottled up inside.. thanks
