I have had fainting spells due to giving blood, emotional startles, etc...And in a month I am having elective surgery and I am wondering if it is safe for me to go under? And if not why? and if it is okay, how can I prepare?

it should not interfere in any way with the safety of the surgery, but be sure to tell the anesthesiologist, whom you will see prior to surgery, that you have this tendency.

This is information that your doctor should have; he/she can tell you what (if anything) you should know before undergoing general anesthesia.
