On discharge I was given information about recovering from angiograms. I don't remember being given this procedure - I think I probably would have noticed.

He had rotator cuff surgery 5 weeks prior. His medication was increased 1 week prior to his death. He was taking APAP 5.0 500MG Hydrocodone. This was increased to APAP 7.5 500MG Hydrocodone. He also visited his family doctor one week prior to his death to check blood work. His liver enzymes were "mildly" elevated. He seemed fine when he went to bed that evening. The medical examiner's report came back with "liver failure due to alcohol" because there was alcohol in his system. Can this be accurate?

Hello...I have been on blood pressure meds. since I was18, both my grandfathers died in their 40's from a heart attack, my dad had a blockage at 32 and had triple bypass surgery at 44. I have ashma but was having more severe attacks with chest pains when I excersised and just laying down. I went to doc. thinking it was something else and had an abnormal EKG. Are there other reasons for an abnormal EKG that could not be serious, like because I was nervous or stressed? I am having a stress test done on friday with a treadmill but my dad is worried I am not having a sonagram with it, should I be? If the stress test is fine the doc. said everything is ok...but I still will be worried b/c of the 1st reading and family history. Am i worrying too much? I would greatly appreciate your help.....

I was just told by a cardiologist that I have a bicuspid aortic valve. I am 25 and have never been told this before. No one has ever head any thing wrong with my heart and I had an ECOcardio done 7 years ago and nothing was found. Why now, 7 years later after a new ECo did they suddenly see this? I figure this means that I have always had this but it seems to be making itself noticable now.
I went to the doc in the first place because I recently starting having palpitations.

I have been told that a normal ejection fraction was no more than 75% but mine was 79% nothing was ever said by cardiologist i got a copy of the report...i read on the internet that something higher could mean hypertrophy....everything on the echo was structually normal...except mild mitral valve prolapse...should i be worried...i was really anxious during the visit and my heart was racing could this have elevated the EF?

I sometimes read about young people (often, but not always, athletes) who are in their 20's and just drop dead from a heart attack. They aren't old enough to have clogged arteries (I guess). Is it some underlying heart trouble they are born with but hasn't been detected? Pushed themselves too far physically? Interested.

i am 35 yr old female, just a couple pounds underweight with a heart murmur since i was 18, maybe longer. i was once over 200 pounds due to multiple pregnancies, but that was only for a period of about 3 years. i was not overweight before that time and have now kept the weight off for the last 4 years. i am told i have an enlarged heart and moderate aortic regurgitation. my cardiologist says the time i was obese caused my heart to be enlarged. i have chest pain and shortness of breath (not on exertion) occasionally and i am worried i am a heart attack waiting to happen but he seems to be blowing me off saying i am really too young for any of this to be very serious. what causes these things in a young person?

well i was hoping to find people with serious answers, but it seems other peoples lives are jokes.

my mother recently (thursday the 16th) had open heart surgery (valve replacement) due to a leak in her heart. a week later she had an ICD (defibrillator) put in.

it just seems like it was just too soon of an operation after open heart surgery.

anyway, she was discharged 3 days after the ICD was installed and she was doing fine. the following day, she nearly fainted while using the restroom and scared me half to death. i just dont think it was a right move to implant the ICD so soon.

I'm unsually tired this morning. I do take blood pressure medication daily for the 9 mo. This morning checking my blood pressure at home it read 106/58, and pulse was 56. I began using flaxseed two weeks ago. I know it has many health benefits, including for blood pressure. Is this number a normal number, or low? I intend to monitor it for a few days, but do not know what represents a low enough number to call my doctor.

I've been told what I experience is an anxiety attack but I'm not so sure because I don't experience worry/stress or any emotion with it. My heart will suddenly speed up like I've just sprinted a mile, and I'm really out of breath and dizzy. Sometimes it will go as quickly as it comes, other times it will last 15 minutes or so. There is no pattern to it, sometimes I'll go months without it or other times I'll have 4 or 5 in a week...

FYI-I'm in shape and exercise every day....sometimes I think my working out hard causes it, though it doesn't always happen after I work out?!
