I've been told what I experience is an anxiety attack but I'm not so sure because I don't experience worry/stress or any emotion with it. My heart will suddenly speed up like I've just sprinted a mile, and I'm really out of breath and dizzy. Sometimes it will go as quickly as it comes, other times it will last 15 minutes or so. There is no pattern to it, sometimes I'll go months without it or other times I'll have 4 or 5 in a week...

FYI-I'm in shape and exercise every day....sometimes I think my working out hard causes it, though it doesn't always happen after I work out?!

Could be SVT or PSVT. Call your doctor. If you work out alot could be an electrolyte thing from dehydration. Potassium, Calcium, or sodium being out of whack can cause many problems. The SVT needs to be watched with possibly a Holter monitor. When this happens actually stop and check your pulse. Is it actually rapid. Or very rapid SVT= over 150 beats a minute. If so see a doctor. REalize also that anxiety can cause a rapid heart beat. Doesn't matter if you are not anxious or stressed. That is why it is anxiety DISORDER. If you had a real reason for the anxiety it would be a natural stress reaction.

good luck.

Def. anxiety. Medication or therapy can find the underlying cause. And fix it. I was exactly the same. Unfortunately only meds work for me. Zoloft actually. Changed my life because the panic attacks were everyday and starting to take over my life and be very debilitating.

Now I'm OK 99 percent of the time!

I had an anxiety attack and my heart raced, I got dry mouth, I got really hot and could feel my face turning red, my skin started to tingle, and I thought I was going to die. I tried to concentrate on breathing slowly during that time and tried to relax. Thankfully I haven't had another one but sometimes I can feel one coming on and I can get it under control by breathing slowly and taking deep breaths.

The only way to find out if you are having anxiety attacks is medical testing, rather than "I've been told"

If you are not anxious about anything, then I would see a doctor about this. Better to deal with a problem before it gets bigger.
