I got real bad chest pains yesterday on the left side of my chest.. It started as I was driving home from work and progressed. I could barely breathe and was starting to hyperventilate. Once I got home I layed on my bed, but every which way i turned, it hurt even worse..I have had chest pains in the past but my doctor said it was "gurt" , "heatburn", which i was prescribed Prevacid for. Well i got chest pains about 1 1/2 months ago and i went to the hospital, they took x-rays, ekg, blood... and everything came out normal, and then the doctor told me to take protonix instead of prevacid, Which i have been. These chest pains also happened about 4months ago, which woke me up from my sleep, but lasted only about 15minutes. This pain that i am having is NO where near Heartburn !!!! So what exactly causes these Sharp Chest pains??? and What can me the Answer to this??

I in the past few months began having painful chest pains for a moments time.Once while at school i had a deep pushing pain with a pain in my left arm(never occured to me it might be heart problem)then on July 4 about two months later it happened again as i was sitting downwatching T.V.I had been to the ER 4 times in less than a month and at the time of this pain i was wearing a holter monitor(heart monitor).
I had 3-4 EKG/ECK done to me and all stated that it was Normal.
And my doctor and emergency room doctors all said my EKGs were normal.

Is it normal or are the doctor lieing?or is just anxiety,a little depression, and me being anemic causing these frequent pains?

I have been having heart palpitations for about 9 months now. I have a thyroid disorder, and my medication has been adjusted. I have worn a 24 hr holter moniter and had an echocardiogram. The results came back as having a fast heart rate. That's it. But I can't shake the feeling that something is wrong. My heart starts to beat fast when I am watching tv, after I get out of bed...at times when I don't think I am having a panic attack, but how do I know? Are there foods that can trigger palpitations? I have cut back on caffeinated beverages and try to eat healthy. What should I do?

Fluid retention: I have been prescibed a drug to control my blood pressure, I understand that it works like a diuretic and helps to rid the fluid build up in the body. So can someone explain to me please why have I been told to drink lots of water? I know it helps to flush out the kidneys etc., but does this fluid build up have anything to do with the amount of water we consume or does it comes from a different source i.e. muscles.

I am finding it very hard to reconcile that I an increase of fluid intake is not contradictory to me taking medication for blood pressure.

It is known statin drugs reduce LDL. My question is, do they reduce the amount of plague already formed on the carotid artery? What reduces the plague? Is the carotid artery blockage a slow process? How fast does it progress? I’d appreciate it you could share some of the related articles.
