i wouldn't get a tattoo....being a diabetic also affects your ability to heal. A tatto is just a pretty open wound. But i would still contact your doctor. they usually know best.

Well you already have part of the answer... you mentioned that you are going to the Dr and thats the one person you should be asking. Ive personally never heard of having a tattoo effect any kind of medication but that doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Also might I suggest in finding out if the medication you are taking might effect the ink holding/staying in your skin... once you get the ok from the Dr I would ask my tattoo artist about the meds just to be sure. I would hate to sit through getting the tattoo and spend the $$ then have it go to hell ya know....lol
as for the diabetes I found this article but I dont feel like reading through it all... so I thought I would pass it along... Good Luck!!

It should be ok if you get it soon and fast, while you have some time left. You might want to have an ambulance with the motor running waiting outside though. Do it soon because it's hard to find a tattoo artist that will work on a dead person, (they tend to stink up the place and that drives live customers away, you know). Get it somewhere it will show when you are in the casket or it will be a waste.

Call your cardiologist regarding tattoos and heart patients. I really doubt that it would be a problem. I was more concerned about the diabetic aspect. Here is what I found regarding diabetes:

"In a related matter, Barb Courtney of Merrit Island, Florida, asked, "Is there is any danger for people with diabetes who want to get tattoos?" According to S. William Levy, MD, clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, there is not.

"There's no harm in getting a tattoo as long as you take the necessary precautions," says Levy. "First of all, make absolutely certain that you go to an accredited tattoo artist. Your State Board of Cosmetology may grant certificates to tattoo artists who fulfill the necessary hygienic measures."

Levy warns people with diabetes there are certain places you shouldn't have tattoos, including:

places with poor circulation such as ankles
lower legs and buttocks, and
areas where you take your insulin shots such as the abdomen, arms or thighs."

"You should be able to get a tattoo without a problem if:
Your diabetes is under excellent control.
You have the tattooing done under sterile conditions. (By the way, alcohol swabbing of the skin would not be sufficient — one of those ugly-smelling, yellow-orange liquids like Betadine) should be used.)
Your doctor agrees that the neuropathy will not impair wound-healing."

Here's a thought, why not contact your cardiologist of your primary care physician and ask. It would probably be a more accurate answer than you will get here and then you will know if it is safe. Instead of depending on a bunch of laymen to base your decision on.
