I'm a 29 yeor old female, had pericarditis 3 years ago (probably after a dental treatment). It was resolved by taking Ibuprofen. At that time my ECG was normal. Since then I still have similair pain, which comes an goes, usually only lasts a couple of minutes to an hour (just take Ibuprofen if it persists).
I had another ECG done a couple of weeks ago, which showed "consider right atrial enlargement". My blood pressure is normal (often 110/70 per the Target machine), not on any meds, not under stress, don't smoke or drink (never did either of them), BMI 19-20, normal cholesterol, try to eat healthy, no heart murmur. I have an echo scheduled for next week. What can I expect? What's the treatment, long time effect, can it get worst or develop something serious? Diet, excercise to prevent further damage? Any other recommendations?

If someone goes to the doctor for a Bronchitis, is prescribed antibiotics (which side effects are Nausea, Abdominal Pain and Diareaha). then 2 days later goes to the Hospital Emergency Room for those same symptoms. they are Diagnosed with a Bladder Infection, given a cathiter and kept overnight. was given morphine for Pain (2 hits in 20 mins.) had an allergic reaction. then given 2 doses of Narcan to counter the morphine. the heart rate jumped to above 200. then was given 2 doses of something to slow the Heart Rate. Lowered it to 45. all in a 6 hour time period. They Die of an enlarged Heart. in your opinion what happened?

I have lost two grandparents, an aunt and an uncle...all died of congestive heart failure. It looks like an awful way to die.

Is this genetic? What can I do now, while I am young, to keep it from happening to me when I am older? Am I doomed from my genetics? Can I prevent it?

I have had several episodes of a tingling pain starting in my shoulder blades, running across my chest and then into my arms. It makes it almost impossible to breath when this happens. I am seeing a doctor, am taking 100 ml of Toprol, and keeping nitorglycerine with me for these attacks. I also will become nausiated out of the blue and feel like i'm gonna pass out. I have broken out in cold sweats before during the nausia. I'm scheduled for a stress test next week. By these symptoms, what do you think will be found in this test?

This has been happening to me for the last 6 or 7 years. What happens is I get a weird lightheaded feeling and my chest feels like it tightens up and then my heart does this thing where it beats really hard and fast for a couple seconds. And I feel fine afterwards. It usually only happens once or twice a week but sometimes it happens multiple times in one day. What could it be?

My fiance has tetralogy of fallot. He has had 2 valve replacements in his life, but is 35 and overall healthy. Nobody in his family ever had this. He is very hesitant about us having children because of his battle with it (scared he won't be around) and his fear he will pass it on. He is not interested in adopting, so if the hereditary chance is high, then we will not have children at all. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

It must leave him strong and healthy to the end, heart failure maybe but predictable and irrepairable. For instance he may have some other problem that would prevent a transplant or surgical correction but be able to perform normal tasks until the last day. He simply cannot suffer long term degenerating illness. Any ideas?

My son is 15 months old and he has BAV (bicuspid atrial valve) & aortic insuffieciency. From what I know so far from DR visits is that he has a leaky aortic valve which can cause narrowing, at this point he is in the trivial to mild numbers of leak. However when someone tells you that your son has a heart condition its not trivial to you. He sees a cardiologist every 6 months for an echo and ekg and I have been told that he will prob. have valve replacement in a few years, but I dont understand when I read on here people who have grown out of this? Is that possible that a valve can repair itself? And why would a dr only want to see him 2 times a year? Its like they tell you its serious, but we'll see him in 6 months, it cant be that serious right? Wouldnt they want to see him every month or something. He has no blueing around lips, great pulses, great oxygen, Am I just overreacting by panicking all the time, I guess I am just a paranoid parent, but this over whelmes me every day.

I am a 48 year-old woman who has severe heart disease.

My heart disease is hereditary.

I had quadruple bypass surgery in November, 2003. I actually had 6 blockages but one of them was opened using a stent and the decision was made on the other to not do anything at the time. The surgeon had trouble finding veins and arteries in my body that were in good enough shape to perform the surgery with. By January of 2004 two of the 4 bypasses that they performed had collapsed. The decision was made to attempt to maintain my health through numerous medications. A second surgery is in my future but the surgeons feel that it is the last option I have with the remaining useble arteries.veins in my body so they are holding off as long as they can to give me more time.

I have two questions. I had asked the first one of the surgeons after my surgery once I knew of my situation and at the time they had nothing positive to say.

Please bear with me.. I need to type additional info...

I have been having heart palpitations (I'm not real sure if that is how you spell it) I have had them here and there growing up, but nothing major. I noticed them more when I was pregnant with my children. But here lately they are becoming more frequent. I have no medical history due to being adopted. Sometimes if I am lying flat i can't breath, other times i'll be sitting here just like I am now and can feel my heart go nuts. It feels like I can't breath, my heart skips beats and it feels like I have "butterflies" in my stomach. If i get upset it starts, or if I yell at the kids for dinner I loose my breath. I saw my family doc and he is an idiot. He said I need a day at a spa!! Can I or should I go directly to a heart doc. or what? Thank you.
