you might be just suffering from an anxiety attack. It happens to a lot of people. Just take a deep breath and relax. If it concerns you in the future (like it keeps happening) mention it to your physician.

Just going off of the symptoms that you described, what you experienced could be PAROXYSMAL SUPRAVENTRICULAR TACHYCARDIA or PAROXYSMAL ATRIAL FIBRILLATION.
This is a condition of the electrical component of the heart in which one or more of the hearts "backup pacemakers" start firing off rapidly.
There are a number of underlying issues that can cause each of these conditions, but either one of them can be a life-threatening emergency due to the fact that your heart can beat so fast that the bottom chambers of the heart do not have a chance to fill up with blood. This leads to not enough oxygen getting out to your body/brain/heart.
THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS IF YOUR HEART CONTINUES BEATING RAPIDLY FOR MORE THAN A FEW MINUTES.
There is always, of course, the possibility that you could just be suffering from a panic attack, but you really should have this evaluated by a cardiologist.
If this happens again, ESPECIALLY IF IT PERSISTS, ACTIVATE YOUR LOCAL EMS SYSTEM BY DIALING 911 OR WHATEVER YOUR AREA HAS IN PLACE OF IT.

Sounds to me like you are going to have a major heart attack within a week. The fingertips getting cold is what gives it away. Your blood supply is not being pumped around properly. There is nothing that can be done for this.

conscience? :P
PS: Check out Niacin, consider exercising at least 20 minutes a day, and consider cutting your carbs: flour, rice, bread & refined sugar in your diet in half. If exercise was a pill that cost $10 a day every doctor in the US would still recommend it to every one of their patients for what its medical effects are. Its a veritable fountain of youth available to anyone.

it's hard to say without doing any tests on you. the only way we can point out if you have any heart problems is if the ECG monitor shows some abnormality.
