My dad had nerve problems. I have anxiety problems. He also had High Blood Pressure. I do to. When I ask people who have emotional or stress related problems if they have high blood pressure a big majority of them do. Can this be related? What if we could learn to channel our emotions could we be taken off our meds? Is it possible we just get too excited?

The ultrasound test can detect if there is a reduction of blood flow through the carotid artery. The blood flow restriction can be caused by plaque formed on the inside of the artery. If the carotid ultrasound shows there is a blockage, does this mean the blockage is strictly caused by what’s happening “inside” of the artery? Can it also be caused by a “pinched” artery, or by an external tumor near the artery?

I was at the dr's this morning and my blood pressure reading was on the high side (135/90), my dr assured me she never goes by just one reading, but I am a bit perplexed as to why my blood pressure would be higher than normal. I am healthy, 27 years old, highly active (run 30 miles a week), eat healthy, healthy weight, and I wasn't nervous at all (my pulse at the time was 58 beat per minute). what can be other causes to high blood pressure? or was this just a fluke?

I am 55 and have been under treatment for an erratic heartbeat since I was in my late 20's. However, the treatment I'm presently receiving - 320 mg. of Inderal per day plus 1.5 mg of Xanax - is only partially effective. I am wondering if there might be a more effective treatment available to me. The condition doesn't bother me much when I am resting or relaxed. Though it seems to be triggered mostly by my emotions, I have noticed that more and more it flares up under physical strain as well. I seriously doubt if I could endure a stress test simply because the fear of such a test would probably trigger an episode before they could even start it. I've never had any chest pains or any other symptoms of heart disease. I am also being treated for mildly high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol and an anxiety disorder. What bothers me most is the degree to which I am affected psychologically by all this. It puts a crimp in my lifestyle and keeps me from doing things that I might ......
