In my area of the UK (west mids) a pharmacist will only dispense an emergency supply of drugs if you've been a regular customer at the pharmacy for three months. Nevertheless, if you have the repeat prescription slip you can always phone your local emergency doctor service and ask them to make out a prescription for the drug you need and fax it to your choice of pharmacy. They might want to varify it.

In France : go to une Pharmacie and show them your prescription and (empty) medicine packet. The pharmacist can decide to give you emergency medicine without calling your doctor, but doesn't always and may well not if it's English medicine for which they don't have or know the exact equivalent. Anyway even if they don't, they will always be able to direct you to an emergency doctor to get a prescription.

I am sorry but no Pharmacist/Chemist or Apothecary will dispense you medication from a doctor in a different country,
The best thing for you would be to take a proper supply with you and if you're staying a lot longer visit a doctor or Emergency at the local hospital with your pill container. A lot of the medication is universal from US to China and anything in between, even the brand name stays the same, but each country has their own regulations like the FDA in US and as I said unless the script is written by a local doctor no one will dispense it to you. Some medicines are even obtainable in the drug store with out prescription even though in the US it would need one. Also drug stores are not the same everywhere, normal drug stores won't even carry an aspirin. You need to go directly to the chemist for that.
Sorry.

I read somewhere(can't remember where) that if you need urgent prescription you can contact the local police or even dial 999.
But I guess it's the really urgent ones like insulin for diabetics etc.
