For the past year or so I've been experiencing extreme rapid heartbeat after consuming alcohol. I'm an occasional drinker (well, used to be) like on special occasions only. This rapid heartbeat will occur even after having one small drink. It scared me so bad that I will not touch alcohol with a ten foot pole - no matter what!

Does this sound like a symptom of heart failure or heart disease? I'm 30 years old and I'm a smoker. I also experience swelling of the calves and ankles after sitting at my desk all day at work.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

just wondering if anyone else out there with a cracked, bad, or impacted wisdom tooth/teeth is having problems with the spped of they're heart... ive been completely healthy all my life up until only two things that i can think of that mightve had an effect on the speed of my heart quickening... and thats a recently broken and bad wisdom tooth or taking overdoses of mega vitamins.. im hoping its the wisdom tooth because i have heard or seen some things online that say bad wisdom teeth can be linked to heart arrythmias,, ( and this can be fixed by getting it taken out) but the vitamin overdoses that i think i took for a good 1 and a half to 2 years would probably be permanent... just wondering if anyone else out there with bad wisdom teeth are having any of the same effects that im having with my heart.. im thinking SINUS ARRHYTMIA sinuses are right above wisdom..ofcourse NO DOCTOR has the answers for me...doctors rarely about your health they're just overpaid drug/pill pushers..

I have what a dr told me were PVC's and a history of my blood pressure basically bouncing back and forth like a rubber ball. Sometimes, out of the blue, for no reason at all, my heart will literally stop for a split second, skip and flutter a couple beats, and then beat fast enough to make me short of breath, dizzy, and make my chest hurt and speed out of control so fast I can see it through my shirt and has more than once sent me to the hospital. I have to immediately stop whatever I am doing and drop straight to the floor or bend over while i am in a sitting position in order not to pass out. But heres the frustrating thing...I once had to lay there in the hospital and fill out paperwork during this whole thing and it stopped suddenly...almost like it started...except in reverse. How at risk am I for going into cardiac arrest? And why does it always stop at the most inopportune times???

I've heard that smoking causes heart disease. I understand lung cancer is caused by mutations the genetic code of structures such as the alveoli, but I'm not too clear on how smoking may contribute to heart disease. Of course, as a stimulant that taxes the heart and lungs, nicotine may not exactly be the most healthful thing affecting the cardiovascular system, but no one blames caffeine for their cardiovascular maladies. What's the deal with smokes and heart disease?

About 5 minutes ago I was just standing there and it felt like my heart stopped beating. I couldn't breathe for a minute and then it went back to normal and I got a bad headache. Has anyone else had this before? What is it? I have heart palpitations once in awhile if I drink too much caffeine or I'm super stressed, but I don't usually have it feel like my heart stopped and I can't breathe? Does anyone know what this might be?

PS I do not smoke. I'm not overweight. I exercise regularly. I don't eat junk/fast food.

The pain is about 1/3 up my left bicep and seems to be wrapping around my arm. (It is not going up and down the arm.) I do not have any chest discomfort and I am not short of breath. The pain in my arm is not stiffling, it's just concerning me. FYI: Over the weekend I had a slight fever of 100.3.

I'm having difficulty with arrythmias. v-tach, supraventricular tacyhcardia and runs of pacs. This is with a pacemaker medtronic dual lead atrial paced v-sensed. My rythym will also jump into junctional periodicly told this is normal for the pacer. Have been to best Dr. Not concerned thinks I'm to sensitive but this is all confirmed on holter and event recorders. Need Dr. who will look at this seriously in Michigan. I feel awful after 7 months of no symptoms any clues.
