My husband has high blood pressure and I want to know what are some ways that he can naturally lower it. I have heard of apple cider vinegar but am wondering is this the fastest safest way and how much do you take and how many times a day?

Potassium. Potassium is salt's equal. In our diets today, we eat fewer vegetables and fruits, which contain potassium and therefore regulate how much water stays in our system. We eat a lot of high sodium foods and never enough. Many times doctors will prescribe diuretics for high blood pressure to flush out excess water that salt causes to be drawn from cells. This water drawn from the cells causes overload of the vascular system and in turn causes high blood pressure. Docotrs dont tell us these things because the drug industry is so monetarily profitable. Potassium and salt are electolytes. Potassium is a natural diuretic. Eat more bananas, potatoes and other fruits/vegetables, or take a potassium supplement. It's the best thing anyone can do for themselves.

There's truly no fast home brewed method to treat Hypertension. If that was so, hundreds of millions of people will be using it, as it sure beats seeing a MD.

If diet and exercise doesn't work, it's time to see the MD for medication.

The reason I state this is because no one online knows your husband's exact physical state. He maybe a low-Renin patient, which means all the advice about eating natural foods to solve the problem won't work -- and potassium sure won't for them. Yes potassium can help in certain situations, but it can cause fatal complications as well. It's not a electrolyte to play around with -- especially without a checkup, as there's other medical conditions that can rise the blood pressure, like a kidney, pituitary or adrenal tumor. Which is what they'll test to rule it out. The most common form of Hypertension has no known physical location, it's just unknown for now.

Play safe. Get a MD to evaluate your husband, if for anything to rule out other life threatening illnesses.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

If your husband has hypertension and is in good physical shape, exercises regularly, doesn't smoke, eats a good healthy diet, there is probably no easy remedy for the condition. There are a number of drugs that are very effective in controlling high blood pressure. My advice would be to see a doctor and also to buy a blood pressure monitor available for around $45.

In addition to medication, the following things might help:
-reduce stress
-get a pet
-volunteer
-Tai Chi
-Meditiation
-lower salt intake
-Yoga
-take up a hobby
-laugh
-quitting smoking
-heart healthy diet

All of these things have been used in addition to traditional treatments to help lower blood pressure. I wish your husband good luck.

High blood pressure should not be solved in the "fastest" of ways. Your husband should consider a few lifestyle changes: Decreasing his sodium intake, exercising, eating lower fat meals, and one I feel is most important, stressing less.
