I was looking at symptoms of heart diseases and saw that I had three of them. Lately I've been having constant Palpitations and I've been short of breath and have been getting dizzy a lot. I'm only 15 and I'm definetly not overweight. Does anyone if it could be something serious or am I just thinking too much?

The Ischemia Modified Albumin is supposed to be used in patients with chest pain to rule out Acute Coronary Syndromes in low risk patients.

Is anyone using this in their lab or practice?

41 years old, female, recently lost about 60 pounds in 5 months, (have 40 to go) Cholesterol was a little high 205 at last dr. visit a month ago but he didn't put me on anything yet as I'm losing weight and exercising every day and he expects it to come down more.(wants me to get it under 200) The pulse pounding I've had about 3 months? In the last two, a little dizziness/pounding has started to come with bending over, occasionally when sitting for awhile, can remember a church meeting recently where I scrunched up at the table and began feeling a little strange. Last week I woke up with it.(left side) This morning I leaned over to shave my legs in the shower and felt like I might faint when I stood up. I have a dr.'s appt. next week but thought I'd ask here, a little worried it's something like an abdominal aneurysm and maybe I should see dr. sooner? Always feel fine exercising, increasing heart rate while standing/walking doesn't seem to bring it on. Serious answers only please

The Peak Systolic Velocity (PSV) from an ultrasound is used to determine the % of a carotid artery blockage. Higher PSV means more blockages. However, a healthy small-frame person can have smaller carotid arteries relative to a bigger built person. Is this assumption correct? If yes, then isn’t a higher PSV expected for a smaller frame person? Any related articles would be appreciated.

I wanted to know what the actual procedure was during the operation. I was told it could take between 3-7 hours, and that they have to cut your chest and then get through the ribs somehow, and then stitch in the new heart. Can anyone help out with more details, and names of intruments used, etc? Any comments from actual doctors would be especially great! How do they replace the heart without the patient dying? Thanks!!!

I will be completely honest here, I am a recovering addict and my drug of choice was crack cocaine (no crackhead jokes, ok?). I have been clean for a couple years. But my question is this. Can a crack cocaine overdose cause a heart attack? I had all the symptoms...nausea, cold sweats, extremely rapid heartbeat, chest pain radiating to my left shoulderand down my arm, the pain was radiating around to my back.

Hello, this happened around 4 days ago. I just got done eating at night and went to bed and suddenly I could feel my heart beating hard and rapidly around 130bpm. I thought it was a panic attack so I took a xanax and just waited it out but it still kept beating. I had no pain anywhere and was able to walk around, use the restroom, etc. no problem. But it wouldn't stop beating rapidly. Eventually, I fell asleep, woke up, and felt fine. I take a shower, eat breakfast, and lay on my bed, and again it happens. I just ignore it because I don't feel any pain and eventually I dose off for a bit and it goes away again. Finally the next day, I eat lunch with my dad and some alcohol and felt fine. I decide to lay and watch some tv and next thing you know it happens again. Again no pain. I juss sleep it off again. I heard it might be acid reflux so I started taking mylanta and hasn't reoccured. But when I feel my pulse, it doesn't feel right. But I might be over paranoid about this. Help!

He has had a pacemaker for years, and has recently completed hormone and radiation for prostate cancer. He awoke feeling ill and went to the doctor who said his pacemaker is ok but the other side of his heart is not doing well. The doctor also said that he needed coumadin for thick blood. After about 3 months of therapy they said his blood is "thicker". I don't understand how his blood could be getting thicker. He is taking 2 coumadin daily. He does not bruise and is very difficult to get blood out of a finger stick. Does anyone have info on what could be up with his blood? is this a genetic thing or something else?

This happens sometimes after two years and some times after five years. I had an accident 25 years ago. When I came out of the car I felt a sharp pain in my left arm as if the arm was broken. However I did not have any physical wounds. I had this sensation recently after 7 year lasting about 3 seconds.

Considering both are statin drugs, is one better than the other? My sister's doctor said Zocor is not good because it affects the kidneys. Is that true?

I'm female, 14, asian. Healthy, I guess...I can run a mile without stopping. The past few weeks, I have this pressure on my chest. Like a muscle's flexing the unflexing really fast. I'm really tired, I feel sort of sick. I have a really bad cold, and I sneeze more than 12 times in an hour. My pulse would be fast one second, then slow the next and I'm just sitting down reading. Then, there's also pressure on the left side just right above the ribs. Sometimes I start to feel it in my arms, then on my back. I have no idea if this is all related, but I have been extremely healthy for the past 14 years, evre since I was born. I don't want to tell my parents just in case its nothing. Usually, when this happens, it passes by within a week. This one, I can't ignore. Oh, and I can feel my pulse on the left side above the rib just standing or sitting still without touching it, and I can feel the pulse in my ear. Anyone? please? I'm not exagerrating anything.
