41 years old, female, recently lost about 60 pounds in 5 months, (have 40 to go) Cholesterol was a little high 205 at last dr. visit a month ago but he didn't put me on anything yet as I'm losing weight and exercising every day and he expects it to come down more.(wants me to get it under 200) The pulse pounding I've had about 3 months? In the last two, a little dizziness/pounding has started to come with bending over, occasionally when sitting for awhile, can remember a church meeting recently where I scrunched up at the table and began feeling a little strange. Last week I woke up with it.(left side) This morning I leaned over to shave my legs in the shower and felt like I might faint when I stood up. I have a dr.'s appt. next week but thought I'd ask here, a little worried it's something like an abdominal aneurysm and maybe I should see dr. sooner? Always feel fine exercising, increasing heart rate while standing/walking doesn't seem to bring it on. Serious answers only please

I am 27 and suffer from this as well and have for the last few years. It is called pulsing tenitis. It can be caused from several different things. I hear the noise in my ear constantly. The first step for me was an MRI to rule out an aneurysm, which is one major cause of strokes. My MRI came out normal. So I was sent to a Neurosurgeon to take a closer look. She sent me to another doctor and he said that it was possibly caused by blood entering the brain cavity. I would have to have an angioplasty to look into my brain and correct it. During the surgery they found that it was not what they assumed it was. There is a small vein in the back of your brain that is protected by a thin bone. Sometimes that bone deteriorates and dissolves. When it does it causes the blood vessel to expand and you begin to hear your heart beat (in Lamen's terms).
Basically, go tell your doctor soon! Mine was not serious but it could be. Unfortunately for me, mine is permanent, I hope that yours is not. Good Luck!!

How did you become worried about an "abdominal aneurysm"? That's a rare disorder, and one to least to be worried about (and one very easily to diagnosis by a Cardiologist).

Dizziness is a symptom of many conditions, as well as just being plain tired. If it's diet related nutrition maybe a factor, such as severe reduction of carbohydrates/starches. It can be a sign of diabetes. It can be a sign of any medication OTC or prescription you've been taking. It can be a sign of dehydration and electrolyte imbalances.

But instead of worrying about what it can be (which can make things worse -- worrying is really bad for the heart), try to relax. Something can be done for any condition/illness, so there's nothing that can't be treated (the real fear that nothing can be done, hopelessness). Everyone with a condition can attest to this -- we're living -- not just surviving, daily.

Sounds like high blood pressure to me, but i'm not sure. Take just one aspirin & hope it goes away. If it keeps happening you need to have your blood pressure checked maybe at a walgreens & if that's not the problem then you need to see a Dr.. My personal theory is that if you do have high blood pressure, all you have to do is eat something with cherries in it everyday. Cherries expand the blood vessels & I'm guessin that would lower a persons blood pressure. In fact, one week i was eating 2 pieces of cherry pie everyday & then one day I started getting light headed & feeling like I could pass out. Don't overdo it though. Just gradually include cherries in your diet & don't eat 2 piecese of cherry pie a day like I did.

You may have some blockage in your carotid artery. That could explain the dizziness. If you do have some blockage, it could be treated with medication or you may need a carotid endarterectomy(that when they go in and "strip" your artery of the build up). You definently need to see your Doc.
